… is it as good as the Blackberry plan?

iph Andy Abramson from VoIP Watch feels that even though there is some relief for cost, this new AT&T plan is not as good as the $20 Blackberry plan if you are a heavy email and web browsing user. Of course, once Truphone releases their iPhone application, the potential of HUGE savings is there.  Andy referenced a post by Alec Saunders that you might find interesting.

The AT&T plan gives iPhone users 50 MB of data per month to browse the Web, check e-mail and access other information in more than 29 countries, including Canada, China, Mexico and in areas throughout Europe and Asia but its cost is a $59.99 a month, which is in addition to the domestic voice and data iPhone plan you already have.

The net results is that you are forced into two plans, your domestic plan as well as the International which can end up being very costly and it does not have to be that way.  The future of international calling calling rests in the hands of the VoIP developers.  Solutions like Truphone are remarkably reliable and amazingly inexpensive.  I would expect that the Truphone solution will be available for all devices soon.
