I do a lot of reading on my low end cell phone. I think special purpose eReaders will get squeezed out by phones on one side and ultra mobile PCs on the other. You can download prepackaged books for phones from http://www.booksinmyphone.com if you have mobile internet you can browse and install with just a few clicks.

The question could be… why EVDO?
And why an always-on connection on a gadget with mostly offline purposes?
Wi-fi wouldn’t be enough?

I am thinking of getting one… I read ALOT…. and miss the “big page” ( I have been reading via Mobipocket on my AT&T Tilt)

I could always use the excuse “I am going to review it for Mobility Site”….hmmm…hadn’t thought of THAT :)

The answer is E-Ink technology.
It won’t cause eye strains if you read for a period of time

I’ve read eBooks on my Axim 51v for a few years, but then I got a Sony PRS-500, let me tell you, I would never go back to PDA for reading a book.

The only drawback of those eInk books are the lack of backlight, which is due to the fact that the display are not transparent and requires front lighting.
