Its glass thats why. Most glass doesn scratch that easy. just dont drop it hit it hard or it may shatter like mine did. But microsoft sent me a new glass screen for me to repair myself.
my zune droped on a rock directly on the screen.

The photos above are photos taken after the Zune 80s unfortunate trip that had to be made with the keys stabbing him in his side. Kind of like that plane flight with the 300 pound lady with a cough.

No visible damage at all. Did I get lucky, are the Zunes that tough, I'm not going to try my luck to find out.

^^ I think he refers to the plastic part on the front not implying that the screen is plastic. I would like to know also if that part survived the scratch test also.

Nice. But did the front plastic scratch? I enjoy the style of mp3 players with glass screens. I like the iPod Touch/iPhone as well because of the Glass scratch proof screen.

@ Vishwas: I'm very sorry to hear that. I know I'd be extremely disappointed if that happened to my non-existent Zune Original.

Hopefully by the time they move up here in Canada, they toughen the custom art a bit.

But I'm also very pleased to hear about the durability of the Zune screen

I did the same exact thing. I put my Zune8 in a pocket with Keys and the ear buds. 4 hrs later i was like damn. I pulled it out and not a single scratch.

I was expecting some small lines on the screen at least and there wasn't a one.

That is great to hear. I am always puuting my phone in my pocket with the keys. Sad thing is that my phone didn't hold up like the Zune did the first time I did it.

There is a dearth of good quality zune 80 cases and 3 days back I was walking from college to home with my Zune 80 original and ear buds in the same pocket. The headphones scratched the tattoo on the back and I was heart broken.. I'm sure the screen can pass the test but the rear end gave away.

Now I'm looking for a good quality sport armband for my Zune80 and a nice carry case
