It runs Linux, it’s  Windows XP compatible and cost $299 …. might well be worth looking at.

DailyTech caught this on NewEgg and I thought it was well worth mentioning if you were in the market for that special gift for someone …. maybe even yourself!  The ASUS Eee PC family now has the $299 2G Surf model at a great price point and several colors (Galaxy Black, Blush Pink, Sky Blue and Lush Green) to suit your fancy.   

It only has a 2GB solid-state drive (SSD) but a good expansion card should take care of storage concerns. The device also comes with 512MB of DDR2 memory and the 4G Surf’s smaller 4-cell 4400 mAh battery (2.8 hours).
