I agree about the Atomic Punks -- they rock! They are a yardstick for any tribute band, and were the first tribute show I had ever been to...very impressive. Ticket prices do seem a bit crazy these days. I'm going to a hockey game next week with 3 other adults and a child and it's over $400!

Since you're mentioning tribute bands and the value of a great tribute show, I thought I would let anyone in the L.A. area know about a great tribute night that's coming up on Saturday, Jan 12th at The Canyon in Agoura Hills (off the 101 fwy at Kanan). Tickets are just $15 for 3 tribute bands, "Dead Man's Party" (an Oingo Boingo tribute band), "Pretentious" (a Pretenders tribute), and "Clash City Rockers" (a Clash Tribute band). If you've never been to The Canyon before, it is a great place to see live music -- large stage/dance floor, 2 bars...upscale ambiance, GREAT sound system...definitely NOT a dive bar. It's a fairly large place, yet an intimate setting to see bands. It's also an ALL AGES show, for anyone with kids.

I front the Pretenders tribute band -- if you happen to go to the show, please introduce yourself and say hello. :-)

P.S. I should mention goldstarevents.com...I've been a member for years and it's a great way to get tickets to things for half price or less. They send out an e-news every Tuesday based on your zip code and your preferences (types of events you're interested in).

I think in this case it is not actually the venues or artists or even ticketmaster that is to blame..

“The primary ticketing giant is suing RMG and others over software RMG has developed that utilizes “bots” to find and purchase large blocks of tickets from Ticketmaster’s websites. The others being sued are ticket brokers that have allegedly used the applications, and Ticketmaster is seeking an end to the use of such types of software programs.”
