How To Install KaiserTweaks On Your Tilt

closeThis post was published 1 year 10 months 25 days ago which may make its actuality or expire date not be valid anymore. This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.

pc_capture29 I have received so many emails asking about how to install KaiserTweaks on the Tilt that I have decided to post this “how to” to easily install this wonderful tool! First, KaiserTweaks was developed on XDAdevelopers.com and all credit and accolades rightly belong there. This is an unbelievable program that is free. (Donations are welcome by the author however!) So lets Get started!

Click below for the full instructions!

First, click this link to download KaiserTweaks:

 http://www.jongma.org/KaiserTweak/

pc_capture24 The current version is v0.41, dated December 9, 2007. The latest tweaks XML is also from December 9. Make sure that you are using this latest version. Now, assuming you have a storage card and have moved the .zip file from your desktop to your Tilt. We can begin. To the right is an image of my Tilt’s file directory using Resco’s File Explorer 2007 and Soti’s Pocket Controller Pro.

pc_capture25 Next, open up the KaiserTweak.zip and there should be two files that look just like the ones on my Tilt in the Image to the Right.

pc_capture26Highlight and copy both of these files from the Zipped KaiserTweak Folder you just opened to a New (unzipped) Folder that you will create and presumably name KaiserTweaks either on your storage card or on your Tilt’s main memory. It is your preference, both locations will work just fine.

pc_capture27 Now, paste both of the copied files into the directory that you created. You absolutely must copy these file to a new directory! If not, the program WILL not work! After you have pasted the two files into your new KaiserTweaks Folder, you can delete the zipped file you copied to make more room, or you can leave it on your device. I keep mine in a folder labeled Tilt Software so I can easily install them in the future if I want to change my setup around on my Tilt. I do this often as this is the fun of having a windows mobile device, constantly changing and trying out new software!

pc_capture28 Okay, KaiserTweaks is installed and you are ready to Hot Rod your Tilt! So lets get started by running the .exe (the larger 376k File) from your folder.

pc_capture29 This is what you will find when you open up the .exe file. The great thing about this program is that it not only gives you the options to make the changes that will improve your Tilt’s performance, but it also explains the changes and gives you recommendations! All of the changes are labeled “advised” like you see in the images to the right. From the first option (call/fast sleep), just move your dpad down to highlight all of the options that are listed. Use the drop down box to explore all of the choices available and read what they do. If you are not sure what you are changing, it is probably better to leave it where it is in it’s default setting. The major changes that you will need to make a significant difference are labeled clearly with advised on the preference choice. Start there, experiment, and have fun!

Come on!!! These are instructions? What about if you don't have Rescoe File Explorer???!!!!!
  • I'm still having trouble getting this download. I've got it on my desk top but I've not been able to get it to my phone.

The pictures in the install how to, aren't too big so I'm not sure what screen to go to, to transfer the files.

    HELP PLEASE!!! Need more specifics.

I've had a 4G Class 2 SDHC micro card in my Tilt for months. Music ripped with MS Media 11 from CDs to my laptop and transferred to Tilt gives mixed results. Some songs play smoothly, others are a bit choppy as though there is a streaming interruption. The albums are installed on my micro card.

I also get an error message for flv files. They will not play.

How do you get the unzipped files over from the PC to the Tilt. Please don't assume we know.

    Thanks,

Actually there are newer versions on the XML tweaks file on XDA.

From the Kaiser Tweaks thread on XDA:
"KaiserTweak XML file is currently maintained by Nikagl, and it can be found in this topic."

Here is the link to the xml thread:
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?...

The latest XML Update file is KaiserTweak-nikagl-200712232148.zip dated December 23, 2007. (as of writting this comment)
