I just purchased a new Sony HD TV and have been blown away by the clarity and richness of the HD TV.  In fact, I can’t wait to watch the Superbowl this year not only because the Patriots are in it but because the total viewing experience will be extraordinary.  So with the new TV, I am still looking for items that I can get to complement my new system and today I saw one that looks very cool called tvCompass.  The tvCompass Digital Media Remote Platform is a very slick two-way interactive WiFi based smart TV remote control.

The tvCompass Digital Media Remote utilizes the always-on WiFi network to deliver always up to date electronic TV program guide (EPG) listings and new equipment device codes. Using a mobile phone style color LCD display and approach to user navigation, the tvCompass Digital Media Remote makes set-up and control of entertainment equipment very simple. Once the home entertainment equipment is set up, our end-to-end software solution and real-time network makes it possible to respond to advertising, play games, purchase products, or participate in gaming activities while viewing television. To further enhance the consumer’s entertainment experience, the tvCompass Digital Media Remote’s second screen also offers syndicated on-line news and information from popular on-line content feeds.

The folks at Windows for Devices said that this Windows CE-based remote for home theater systems boasts a color display, wireless networking, and Web browsing capabilities, and can be used to control more than two dozen different devices at once, according to the company.

Sound cool?  You bet it does …. we are living the future!
