azaas: All those wifi uses would be tight, but a lot of America is becoming gamers.. and microsoft makes a lot of games.. So imagine if microsoft put a game as simple as pong on zune, but you could play against other zunes using wifi? It’d entice a lot of young buyers.. Simple games like battleship or mindsweeper.. could be put on maybe even pinball. That’d definitely bring a lot of people. Then as you were saying with 3rd party applications.. people could ad more.

@kaseyart : Well even if you had some other artist’s work on your zune i can’t see why this would upset someone.After all it’s free publicity…lol just kidding.Even artists could sale their own artwork through MS site.So you’d go there and choose to buy someone else’s artwork for let’s say 20 bucks.If you wanted your own then it should be free.
Anyway,that’s why you gotta love zune and microsoft.Those things are not that far away and they will be far more important than being able to have your name carved on the back of your ipod [LOL].Just think of that.You wake up in the middle of the night and u’re unable to turn on your comp,not to wake up your gf.You simply take your zune,connect via wifi,surf the web [PLZ give zune a real browser...],stream tv/videos or download a movie and there you go.btw when third party apps come in the game,i can sooooooooooooooooo see torrent clients for the zune!!!Again sounds a joke right now,but i know i can see that coming :) [if that's impossible for technical reasons,then plz someone explain to me why,cause i can't think of a problem of neither software nor hardware nature that can't be solved].

kaseyart: Thats brilliant! it’d eliminate extra charge on custom art.. but it’d be a great way to further incorperate the idea of "social" it’d help out the zune community, and gain microsoft some more respect from possible ipod/zen/other users. They could add a new series of art just for these new pieces, and possibly do contests monthly… or weekly :D great idea.

I think being able to put your own art on your Zune would be great. I also think it would push sales up even higher. Only thing, being an artist myself there are legalities that MS would have to go through. You would have to prove the artwork is yours or you would have to get the rights to produce the artwork if it was someone elses work that you liked. MS could be sued. One way around it would be for MS to do something like a few sites I have seen. Artist could upload artwork visitors could vote on what designs they like and the top 3 could be made available. Winning artists could get a discount on a Zune or even a free one to cover MS paying for the rights to use said artwork. Just a thought.

Azaas: I’d say, if microsoft did add in that feature, there would be a fee for converting your artwork to a form to be lazer engraved.. i’d say maybe 10-20 bucks probably. I still this custom zune pad colors would be awesome :D

interesting idea but it sounds like a lot of work for microsoft. but i would love to have my own artwork on the back. Well first i would need to learn how to draw lol. :)

As i already said i think i’m gonna be getting this for myself lol
Wouldn’t be great if you could also draw your own custom thing on the back of your zune??For example draw,let’s say,a rose then scan it and then being able to upload it on a dedicated place on MS’s site so they could carve it on your zune?Yeah i know i’m asking too much,but hey it’s MS so they can do pretty much anything and that would make your zune as personalized as possible :)

ps: i’m saying this just cause Kirsten [my gf] makes some amazing work so i would kill to have that on the back of my media player.I’ve set some of her work as wallpaper both on my ipods and my zunes so why not on the back as well? hehe :)

Wow, this is a great improvement for zune orignials.. It was a tad boring only having black to choose from, at least it’s the begininig of a variety and hopefully there will be more to come… The new art is alright as well(although not exactly what i’d want :D) Ne one here planning on ordering one off there?
