“AOL Home” Launches with Hearst Magazines Digital Media, Real Simple, This Old House and CondeNast as Content Partners

AOL today launched a new domestic hub, AOL Home (http://home.aol.com), for people interested in entertaining, decorating and being domestically green. Working in partnership with Hearst Magazines Digital Media, CondeNast web sites and publications, This Old House and Real Simple, AOL Home will offer a comprehensive array of features on a monthly basis. Other content partners will be added in the coming months.

“AOL Home provides consumers with the resources needed for a complete home experience including how to turn costly home improvements into do-it-yourself projects, easy design and decorating solutions, and tips for everyday entertaining,” said Stephanie Dolgins, Vice President of AOL Living. “We are excited to work with the leaders in the shelter space to provide our users with the highest quality and most extensive content for all of their home needs.”

AOL Home is divided into the following channels:

  • Decorating: Ideas on how to make a living space look its best from integrating Feng Shui into the home to decorating faux pas
  • Entertaining: Cuisine and drink guides as well as table setting tips, budgetary guidelines and the rules of being a good toast-maker are just a few of the areas of focus
  • Green: Tips to making a home more energy efficient and environmentally friendly
  • Organize & Clean: Tricks such as getting out troublesome stains and maximizing the space in your home via organization
  • Do-It-Yourself: Instead of calling in a professional, do-it-yourself gives instructions on how to solve common household problems

Additionally, AOL Home has enlisted the talents of Eric Stromer of TLC’s “Clean Sweep” and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s” Rib Hills—each with their own video series. In Home Improvement with Eric Stromer, Eric shares do-it-yourself and home improvement methods for home enthusiasts – everything from putting together a home theater to refinishing a kitchen floor. Rib’s Minute Fixes demonstrate easy and essential home maintenance and improvement projects that can be done in minutes.

Hearst Magazines Digital Media will contribute digital content on decorating, entertaining, organization and cleaning from GoodHousekeeping.com, Redbookmag.com, CountryLiving.com and HouseBeautiful.com.

CondeNast will provide AOL Home with extensive decorating, organizing, entertaining and do-it-yourself tips from several of their sites and publications including Domino and Architectural Digest.

Real Simple Magazine offers AOL Home users home organizing, decorating and cleaning solutions to help make life easier.

This Old House will provide AOL Home with how-to guides, articles and galleries on home design and improvement and do-it-yourself home improvement tips.

AOL Home ranked in the top ten of its category with more than two million unique visitors in January 2008 according to ComScore Media Metrix.

What's next? IKEA news!? :D XD
Allright, seriously I will need some suggestion about kitchen modeling, and anyone who is planning to renovate their kitchen, should look at IKEA Online Home Planner. Just measure your room or kitchen and start drawing. It is incredibly simple, and will be able to give you a price of what you put on your kitchen, print and take with you, or even upload to IKEA servers, and have them print and get it ready for you... incredible stuff.

Susan, planning to renovate or re-decorate the house? :) Not very mobile news, is it. Anyway, I think AOL should consider revamping their home page, to something different than Yahoos first. ;)
