I recently just bought a new laptop and the Toshiba Qosmio was the first one I looked at. I've had a Toshiba Satellite U205 (small and light) laptop for the past year and a half, and I loved it. However, my work is becoming more demanding, and I was in need of something more powerful.

The only thing(and I mean ONLY) that stopped me from buying this, was it's thickness. It's very thick. Almost -too- thick. In the end, I went with a HP dv9000t and I'm really glad I did. It's got a 17in high-res screen, better specs, and it's super thin considering it's a 17in laptop. Best part is, I saved a ton of money! Being only 25, that's a huge dealbreaker for me. Final price was $1256 shipped.

In case anyone was wondering, Here are the specs:

core 2 duo 2.5ghz (6mb cache)
3gb ram
2 120gb sata2 hard drives (7200rpm)
Nvidia geforce 8600 512mb
Lightscribe DVDRW
Built-in Webcam
Fingerprint scanner
Vista Home Premium (upgraded to ultimate)

THEN I installed:
Office 2007 pro
Visual Studio 2007
Adobe CS3 master Suite

This thing screams!
