This morning, Starbucks issued a press release that they will be offering free WiFi via AT&T.  Details can be found here: http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/pressdesc.asp?id=827

No news about this on the T-Mobile website yet.

What does this mean for T-Mobile?  Does it really matter when their 3G gets complete?  What about their Internet plan service rates?  I guess that we’ll just have to wait and see.

Fred, you are right. While the AT&T; press release says "free" I should have said something like "sometimes free" or "for no additional charges."

    Thanks for correcting me.
  • Calling it "free" is a bit misleading. It's free if you're an AT&T customer, and it's free for two hours a day if you have a Starbucks Card. To get unlimited access if you're not an AT&T customer, you'll pay $19.99 a month, which is cheaper than the T-Mobile unlimited plan, but not free.
