3K Computers, LLC (3K), a domestic, built-to-order manufacturer of computers, workstations, servers and storage equipment for the corporate, government and education markets, announced it has added two new notebooks to its product line — the Longitude 740 Series Mobile Workstation and the Longitude 730R Semi-Rugged Notebook Series.
Starting at $1499, the 3K Longitude 740 is a powerful, mobile workstation with desktop replacement productivity that can run the most processor-intensive programs with ease. Designed with increased mobility, scalability, and connectivity, it runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, comes with up to 4 GB of memory, and up to 250 GB of storage space, with turbo memory available.
The Longitude 740 also features built-in security devices, such as a biometric fingerprint reader. The device can scan up to 10 different sets of fingerprints, allowing 10 users to log on to the same notebook without having to share or remember any passwords.
3K’s Longitude 730R Semi-Rugged Notebook Series starts at $1199, and will stand up to the occasional drop, spill, and normal wear and tear abuse. Its magnesium alloy case is 20 times stronger than ABS plastic, offering higher survival rates after drops and bumps, and its spill-resistant keyboard, touchpad and buttons prevent liquids from leaking into sensitive interior components.
Damaged screens are a common problem with notebook computers, and are typically too costly to repair. Users of the Longitude 730R are unlikely to encounter this problem, as the notebooks are shock resistant, with an anti-shock mounted HDD and anti-shock mounted LCD screen, plus a flexible HDD cable design to absorb shocks from drops, complying with the Military Spec (MILSPEC) 810F Standard.
Double protection smart battery circuitry prevents damage caused by current or voltage surges and overheating, and smart battery calibration helps fight the loss of battery capacity after repeated charge-discharge cycles.
For those who do not need as much memory or USB ports as the Longitude 730R, or a CPU as powerful, 3K also offers a less expensive version of the 730R in its Longitude 619R Semi-Rugged Notebook Series, which starts at only $999.
All 3K workstations and notebooks have been verified as IPv6-ready by the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) technology consortium. Effective June 2008, the federal government is requiring IPv6 compliance for all new equipment purchased by federal agencies.
3K computers are available through the company’s authorized distributors, VARs and channel partners.
