I just used it yesterday at starbucks outside because I was curious about the song and it found it easy and was amaze it found the artist because I never heard of them

Just to follow up on my article: I wound up subscribing, just to see if my results would be better. And they were. When I subscribed it downloaded a cab to my Tilt and installed MusicID again. It may have been an updated version, I don’t know. However, this one successfully ID’d two songs on the radio, and helped me rediscover a band from my teenage years (Social Distortion). So far, it’s a much better experience.

Indifference, do you have a cooked ROM? Because it’s installed by default on the Tilt.

I just tried it, and it successfully recognized “Hey, Johnny Park!” by the Foo Fighters. Of course, I put it right next to the speaker in my dead-silent office…

I don’t even have the MusicID software installed. I can think of some times it would have been useful. Maybe I’ll put it on.

I have been using this app every since I bought my Tilt and, in the right environment (not too much background noise) have found it to be extremely reliable.

The only issue I have with it, and it’s a small one, is that it doesn’t work with the touchscreen. Seemed sort of odd that an app that came on a touchscreen phone doesn’t work with it but it’s easy enough to navigate using the directional pad.

It’s a cool app, but isn’t 100% reliable. The subscription is $4 per month and has around 4million songs in its catalog, but not everything, most notably classical music.

I was curious if they have to pay some sort of licensing fees to record companies…that might explain why the catalog isn’t as complete.

ATT also has a per-use fee for MusicID (.99). They send you a text shortly after and don’t charge if it can’t ID the song.

Not sure how valuable the service is in the real world but definitely brings some “oohs” and “ahhs” whenever I demo it…
