March is Drawing To A Close, HTC Where Are you?

As many of you know, March is drawing to a close. March is a good month as a rule. Daylight savings time ends, and Spring begins. St. Patrick’s Day is always a blast! This year Christians celebrated Easter in March, something that won’t happen again for another 106 years. If you are not Christian, you more than likely got Good Friday off. So that’s something. But March this year had another special day that many of us have been looking forward to. March was to see the release of our Video Driver Software Updates by HTC! Yahoo! But wait, today is the 26th and time is running out HTC! But if we are keeping things real, HTC did provide a cushion by saying: “they hope to roll out in the not-too-distant future (March is the tentative plan), and if all goes well, it won’t even involve anything more painful than a .cab install.” This was a statement released by HTC to Engadgetmobile last month. So I think at this point, we are more that likely looking at an April date. Even though I know that this is not what we are hoping for. DRIVERS are what is really needed, I am very interested to see what is included in this .cab file and what the result will be. Because let’s face it, how good can this update be short of providing the proper drivers? We will have to wait and see.
For those who are new to the Tilt/TyTN II, (Those who are familiar with the issue can go back to counting the time between keyboard slide out and completed screen rotation. LOL) here is what I am talking about.
The best thing you could do to get familiar with this issue is visit HTCClassAction.org. This is a comprehensive look at the complete issue. I have read and re-read this page and I feel it articulates this whole issue very well. So head on over there, and trust me, it’s worth the read.
With that, I conclude my politically correct post, and would like to rant a little. As many of you do, I spend a lot of time reading around the Internet on Tilt/TyTN II forums and websites. There is a lot of anti-HTC sentiment happening which I think they deserve. They did sell it under a false pretenses. But is the Tilt/TyTN II junk? Absolutely not! This is a killer device! Absolutely nothing can rival it in it’s price range. Where else can you get built in GPS (which works awesome!), 3mp Camera, Slide out Keyboard, huge built in memory, and tons more? I have used my Tilt non-stop since it was first released. (actually, a couple weeks before! LOL) I have never had a problem with loading my device down with applications and not having it work less than great. Yes, there is a lag. But it’s not that bad. And if we are keepin it real, the iPhone might have a better screen, and yes it might do most of the things the Tilt can do, but it does not have built in GPS, it does not have 3G, It does not have a 3mp Camera, it does not have anywhere near the applications available for the Tilt/TyTN II, and most importantly for me, it does not have a slide out keyboard. I absolutely love the slide out keyboard. To me, my Tilt does not even compare with the iPhone. But that is my opinion. The iPhone is a great device that has completely energized the mobility world. It has brought a whole new level of interest and has pushed the envelope in user interface. Something the Windows Mobile OS fails at miserably. Again, I ain’t knockin’ the iPhone, or any of my iPhone/mobility brothers and sisters. I think we should all rejoice in the advances the mobility world has come to. Things are really getting good! For the first time ever, the Tilt/TyTN II has officially been labeled by many Mobility World “Guru’s”, a true “converged” device. What a tribute. I’m sure I will be getting some flack over this post. But I started this site because I have a passion about the Tilt/TyTN II platform, and believe that it is one Hell of device. Thanks to everyone who has visited TiltSite.com, and made it what it is today. We have some great writers, and pull with the MobilitySite.com relationship. Many thanks to Microsoft MVP Chris Leckness for his support in me and all his help with this Site and his many contributions. Without him, there would be no TiltSite.com.
Thanks again to all of the readers!
