Celio Corporation is getting ready to launch their REDFLY Windows Mobile Smartphone Companion and Matt Miller,The Mobile Gadgeteer, has an early beta model to evaluate for a couple of weeks. Matt is “curious about whether or not a mobile phone companion device like this has a viable market. Earlier estimates had it priced at US$500 and if that is the release price I think that will be too high for most people.”

In “typical Matt-Miller-style”, Matt has posted specs, design, and first impressions, complete with video and many photos.

Check out his post here and then come back and post in the comments and let us know what you think about the device!

  • I had the opportunity to see and use it briefly a couple of weeks ago at a lunch meeting with the folks from RedFly and was really impressed with its ability to improve your overall experience with your mobile device. I can see a huge advantage for folks "on the road" and having to make a presentation at a meeting.

Keep in mind that it is an "extension" of your device and will allow you to work a little easier on documents, email and web work while on the go. My first impressions were very positive and I would certainly consider getting one if the price is where Matt seems to think it might lie.

I think they still have several hurtles to jump across such as what devices will work with it but I would guess that will become a non-issue quickly.

I personally wouldn't buy @ 300. I love the pocket portability of my Axim and drag out a $500 laptop when I want more. Thanks for the article.
