Celio Corporation is getting ready to launch their REDFLY Windows Mobile Smartphone Companion and Matt Miller,The Mobile Gadgeteer, has an early beta model to evaluate for a couple of weeks. Matt is “curious about whether or not a mobile phone companion device like this has a viable market. Earlier estimates had it priced at US$500 and if that is the release price I think that will be too high for most people.”

I personally wouldn’t buy @ 300. I love the pocket portability of my Axim and drag out a $500 laptop when I want more. Thanks for the article.

I had the opportunity to see and use it briefly a couple of weeks ago at a lunch meeting with the folks from RedFly and was really impressed with its ability to improve your overall experience with your mobile device. I can see a huge advantage for folks “on the road” and having to make a presentation at a meeting.

Keep in mind that it is an “extension” of your device and will allow you to work a little easier on documents, email and web work while on the go. My first impressions were very positive and I would certainly consider getting one if the price is where Matt seems to think it might lie.

I think they still have several hurtles to jump across such as what devices will work with it but I would guess that will become a non-issue quickly.
