YES! I Pay for all the Zunes…

I don’t normally go out here with the personal, behind the scenes stuff, but I got an email in here over the weekend that disturbed me. Someone shot me a nasty little email about disclosure. They claim I should disclose that Microsoft is funding me with the Zunes I am giving away. Well, they are WAY OFF BASE with that assumption.

Every Zune I own, have given away, or given to my family has been paid for at full retail except one. The one I didn’t pay cash for was the 4GB Green Zune that we are giving away right now. It was purchased in the Microsoft Company store with dollars given to me as part of the Microsoft MVP Award.

I have declined getting “Press Review” models on both the original launch and the Zune 2 launch. Not that I wasn’t appreciative for the offer, I didn’t want to wait until a week or two after launch to get it. Here and Mobilitysite are not really considered “main stream” media, so we’re not real high on Microsoft’s press list.

So, in closing. Microsoft has not funded this site with money or Zunes. All the Zunes are paid for by me. Ad revenues don’t tip the iceberg on how much I have spent on my own Zunes or the ones I have given away here.
