pc_capture1 I just got an email from one of our readers on how to adjust the back light level when the device is locked. I admit that I have cussed and and had to hold my hand over the screen to shield the sun light in order to tap the unlock tab. Well, I did some looking and it looks like the good folks over at xda-developers have found solution through some registry tweaking. I know that this is a pain for some of the newer users to Windows Mobile and the Tilt/TyTN II, but unfortunately, it has not been integrated into KaiserTweaks as of yet. This fix will allow you to tap the screen when your device is locked and have it illuminate it to your desired level. This level is between 0 and 10. Zero is the factory default. I changed mine to 7 and think that it is perfect for me. I could not get this to work via Resco Registry Editor, so I used RegEdit.

For step by step instructions, click after the break to learn how to adjust your back light level when locked on your AT&T Tilt and TyTN II.

Thanks to XDA-Developers

UPDATED: You can download Task Manager v3.0 (Contains RegEdit) for free (Donations Appreciated!) by CLICKING HERE

pc_capture1#1 I had problems using Resco Registry Editor so I recommend using RegEdit. Open RegEdit and tap HKEY_CURRENT USER

#5 Tap LockLevel and here is where the fun begins! Note on the bottom half of the screen, that there are two lines. The bottom line is called LockLevel and yours should be set to 0X00000000(0) (I have already changed mine to 7).

Tap LockLevel in the bottom half of the screen.

#6 In the Value Field change the number from “0″ which it should be on yours, to a number from 0 to 10. I liked 7, and that is what is entered here. You can try this number and then go back and experiment from here if you do not like it set at this level.

Click Done at the bottom left of the screen

Click Exit at the next screen and you are done!

Enjoy!

  • Make your registry edit and then power down your device, wait and then power it back up. That is the only way I have ever got registry edits to work or Stick.

Also, this is the only way I have got KaiserTweaks on my device to Hide Sim contacts after Soft reset.

Thanks Steve!!! That was the fix I needed!!! I knew someone on here would know.

one note about this hack. It will also change your default backlight timeout to 10 seconds. if you change the timeout back to something else (like 1 minute), it defeats the reg hack mentioned above. Just keep this in mind when using this hack.

hawgfan923 - that happens because of another reg hack (usually done in KaiserTweak). This scrolling issue happens because you've turned on d-pad scrolling, If you use KaiserTweak, go to the PocketIE section and disable d-pad scroll navigation and your email/txt message scrolling issue will be gone.

Great find... and easy to update.

Now if someone could just explain why my scroll bar starts at the bottom every time I open a text message or email!!!
  • Resco Explorer worked fine for me, I just didn't have a Backlight folder inside my Backlight folder, and neither do you. ;)

It's HKCU/ControlPanel/Backlight/LockLevel/ as seen in this screenshot: http://tiltsite.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/...

THANK you for this post, I never liked the default setting and was unaware of the option to change it. :)

P.S. Would it be possible for the TiltSite team to consider a "Email me on follow up comments" option, if possible? Because I know that if someone posts a comment after me (even if you reply to this comment), I won't read it anymore because I hardly ever come back to old posts. ;)
