Good news today!  Pocket PC Thoughts is back after the longest down-time in their history.  Essentially they have been running on the same main machine for web and database serving for several years.  According to Jason Dunn, for a variety of reasons, it was largely unmanaged.  Sometime back, they were hacked and there were issues that they were able to deal with.

Although things seemed to be OK, they migrated Pocket PC Thoughts to vBulletin and were making preparations to do the same with their main web/database server. When Jason returned from his trip to Japan, he upgraded vBulletin to the latest version that had just come out assuming that all would be well. Assumptions can sometimes prove to be horribly wrong because the next day he got a call from Jon Westfall saying “We’ve been hacked – bad.”

After hours of painful reconstruction and a lot of help from friends, they are back online and well on the way to full recovery … a sigh of relief can be heard from Jason!

The folks at Mobilitysite wish Jason and his team the best and expect that they will 100% very soon.  Check out Jason’s “Tale of Woe” here at Pocket PC Thoughts
