psShutXP has always been one of my favorite plug-ins for my devices going back to my Axim Pocket PC days. As well as being very functional, it looks really cool with the Windows XP screen. And here is another great aspect of this plug in, IT’S FREE!!!
After you finish loading the cab file, you will have to navigate to the programs directory where it will be placed. Tap the application to begin. The screen pictured to the right will pop up and if a bottom tray icon is desired, check the Today Screen box at the bottom and you will have a cool icon like mine located on the bottom right of your tray. You can tap that icon from here on out to bring up the pictured screen to the right.
Most of this program is pretty self explanatory, but you will want to be careful of tapping the Microsoft Icon in the upper right of the panel. That will result in a Hard Reset and wipe your device clean. There is a confirmation first, so don’t be too worried if you accidentally tap it. The three icons in the middle include a Light Off Icon, Shut Down and Soft Reset Icon. On the lower portion of the panel there is a key icon on the left that will allow you to enter in a password if desired, and a the clock icon that is a timer to allow you more control over your device.
psShutXP is a great little program that doesn’t take up much Memory Real Estate, Very Functional, and looks really cool. And say you don’t like the Microsoft XP icons? psShutXP icons are totally skinable and there area lot of skins available on manufacturers website. (link below). There is also a tutorial on how to create your own psShutXP skin for those who are hard to please and a lot of extra time on their hands! So if you are looking for a plug in to close or soft reset your device, give psShutXP a try. Hey it’s free, why not?
