I caught this item as I was reading my feeds at breakfast this morning and thought I’d pass it along to those of you that may qualify for this offer.

It looks like Verizon is about to have a new add-on data plan.  It will enable “unlimited” data access and according to BGR , it is targeted at people that want to access email, web, and other data features on their Verizon Wireless handset.

This is only available for those that need to access personal email, as no corporate Exchange access will be allowed under the new provisioning. That said, the price is right, with the new package starting at just $29.99 before any applicable service discounts. Expect this to be available for the Verizon XV6800, Motorola Q9m, and SMT5800, starting tomorrow, April 14th.

Jack, did this require a renewed contract or did they allow you to change your existing contract?
  • I'm in Seattle at the MVP conference so I decided to call my wife to let her know about the change. She called Verizon and they immediately changed my account after she told them about it.

I guess they had to dig a little deeper to find the offering but it is there.

It is a definite cost savings for me and well worth doing for what I use my Verizon account for.

I went on to Verizon's web site today and was instantly confused, as they do have this plan that says that it is data for "email and attachments" but says nothing about web access at all. I was thinking about calling to switch my unlimited play (to save the $15) but now I am not so sure . . .

Yes, I remember a few months back when I was talking to a Verizon manager that he mentioned that Verizon would be offering up some new data plans in the first part of 2008. If I can get my SCH-I760 on this that would be swell.
