htclogo1 What  day to be traveling on business! I am not going to be able to cover all of the relevant facts here but I wanted to at least provide everyone with some links! I will be posting later tonight on the whole breakdown of the three leaked ROMS that has got everyone so excited. At this point I have not read all of the Modaco post:

http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-professional-news/268599/the-htc-kaiser-6-1-performance-update-is-here/

Or the XDA-Developers thread on the leaked Dutch ROM that has got some much improved performance numbers being posted.

HTCClassAction.org has a good break down to get you started but it looks as though we are going to see some drivers for our device! More to come!

Thanks TiltSite Tipster Joseph Workman! Keep the tip goodness coming!

just tried dutty's, the screen grahpics dont seem to be improved any from the original tilt with WM6.0, so I am going to go back to that one posted on modaco. Its teh Tytn II drivers and user interface but it works fine, I may keep it even after the AT&T release comes out if i like this more.

Tried downloading the file onto my tilt and it gave me an error message saying INVALID VENDER(sic) CODE. how did you all get it past that error message?
  • Thanks Ryan for your comment helping out. I cannot believe I am out of town working during the release of the enhanced ROM! I have been trying to read in between sales calls and driving trying to catch up! I just finished downloading the ROM and can't wait to test it out. Dutty has a new diamond rom out also. It has better drivers, but Dutty is not sure how the diamond drivers are reacting with the Kaiser. I will test that one tomorrow night I hope! thanks to everyone posting answering questions!

    motionmind:
on the modoco page there was a link http://tinyurl.com/5rv8nq in the text. It is a rapidshare download.

    Vikas:
I installed on at&t's tilt. Upon first boot it scans your SIM chip and says "at&t network settings detected, would you like to configure for this network?" you choose yes, it restarts, and it works fine after that.

The biggest change is IE, making it more like the iphone browser where it shows the whole page and you zoom in on specific parts of the page. I downloaded it for Internet Explorer and the new drivers, when the official At&T release comes out I plan to install that one so in hte mean time I wont be installing many programs on my tilt.
  • wanted to update that it seems like mobile office items are there but there are no shortcuts to them in programs. I discovered this because they show up in items you can map to buttons. odd.
  • I installed it on my Tilt today, it seems faster. The boot up time is much improved. The built in dialpad is much nicer than the stock ATT one.

This rom does not have office applications so if you use mobile office stuff i.e. excel word, you will want to stay clear of this rom.

That being said the install was smooth and everything appears to work.

    Ryan,
did you install it on tilt? if so, how does it work?
Please post your review if possible.
what happens to the network lock if you install a non-at&t ROM on tilt ?

I'm not sure where people are seeing the drivers...there aren't any according to the MoDaCo article, it's all just tweaks to speed things up. The article also says that there will be a Tilt version.

Personally, I'm at a point now where I've been looking at other devices that HTC hasn't built. All the disabled power in their devices is getting frustrating.

so there will never be an official release from at&t?

anyway, I just downloaded and installed that rom(the long link at modaco) on my tilt and it works fine. It was my first time installing a rom and installation was a breeze, just plug in the phone and follow the steps on the installer wizard on the pc.

another update. seems to bring us back down to earth a bit..

Looking further into the Diamond drivers and comparing them to the KS20 material (again, done by the same hacker as who ripped open the NLD ROM), seems so far to reveal that the Diamond driver is not nearly as good with 2D as the KS20 driver is. It could be possible that because of the Manilla interface - which is supposed to 'hide' most of Windows Mobile and seems to use mostly 3D api calls - these 2D calls were not important enough for HTC to optimise. This may make trying to port the Diamond drivers a bit less useful, as in, the effect on the normal Windows Mobile interface may not be as big as we would wish. We shall see. If somebody gets them ported far enough to get a Kaiser to boot with them, that is already an enormous achievement and victory.
  • Remember, that the ROM from HTC will only be released for the TyTN II. The Tilt will not be supported. We will have to wait for a cooked ROM to be released. When this happens I plan on doing a video on how to install this ROM onto your Tilt. Many people that own the Tilt will need to know and have testing prior to taking the plunge into installing Cooked ROMS...
  • Some sources are saying in a few days that the real ROM will be released. I have just gotten done working for the day and will start sorting this out!

any idea when the official release will be?
