Good Day

Just wanted to share my new experience.

If your Windows XP fails to start due to an error corresponding to lost HAL.DLL, invalid Boot.ini or any other important system boot files you can repair this by using the XP installation CD. Just boot from your XP Setup CD and enter the Recovery Console. Then run “attrib -H -R -S” on the C:\Boot.ini file and delete it. Launch “Bootcfg /Rebuild” and then Fixboot

I used to have a Palm Tungsten (which was the last of the great Palm devices)… I think SMS Client is the closest there is to the Palm threaded SMS application.

The beauty of the Palm threaded SMS was it’s simplicity. I think SMS Client was developed around the same principles… but they have also added some additional features which allow for multiple-messaging; display configuration; one handedness.

I think they have a trial period of 14 days, so you can check it out.

This program sounds very good. I just got rid of a Palm 750 due to hardware issue, and now have the tilt. I took for granted how nice it was to have the threaded SMS/MMS (I didn’t realize there was more than one generic format until now). Is there a program for the tilt that is similar to the way the palm works, or will that be coming with windows 6.1?

i just loaded the latest version of SMS Client… it seems to have addressed several of the deficiencies above – and then some:

- repeating alarms
- selectable ring tones
- ability to send a single SMS to multiple people
- ability to quickly edit preset text
- improved one handedness
- an optional automatic SMS for missed calls

As far as I can tell, MMS messages aren’t supported, but none of the threaded apps have from what I’ve seen. On one site, the developer explained that each carrier implements MMS differently, thus why it is hard to support it in a general threaded application.
