There is a .cab file you can download and install. It stops the MDA IV/Diamond from going to blank screen during a call. Excellent little tweak.

I thought the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV was going to be called the HTC Victor when released in the states.

All (well 99%) of the T-Mobile/HTC bugs and limitations have been cured by the very clever guys at XDA Developers. From ROM upgrades, unlocking, themes, apps to reviews and a forum for every model of HTC device.

Gramps, I’m afraid I’m in London but I’m sure HTC have this model in the states, it’s just called something different. Maybe I’m wrong.

This latest handset isn’t available on open sale but may have a fee attached when contract is taken on a lower tariff.
@Neil… the window blacks out because of issues with earlier models cutting out calls when your ear touched the screen, yes its a niggle but not as bad as cut-offs eh?

Sorry gramps but I am here in bonnie Scotland.
yes this new model has gremlins, I am never away from the technical help line.
So far t-mobile haven’t cured any of my issues but I have cured a couple by myself.
one real butt kicker is that when trying to save music from home pc to main music file (the file in main page index) it saves to ppc memory instead of hard drive internal memory so after just a few tracks a critical memory issue appears. to get past this you must open internal memory, then contents folder, inside which you will find a my music, my video and my pictures folders. Music of any volume(multiple albums etc) are easily stored in there but is a pain in the rectum to open as opposed to simply scrolling main menu to MUSIC icon.
I’m going to call the manufacturer to raise this issue. I will post the results here. Hope this post is of some use.

So Neil and Scrapman, are you saying you are in the U.S. and have the new MDA? and are on T-Mobile? I’m due for a T-mobile contract renewal and would love to have one of these new phones? How Much will I have to pay?

I love the phone but I’m sure it has a couple of bugs.
I can’t get the Today Menu to stay up and everytime I answer the phone the touchscreen switches off. this is annoying when you have to enter numbers during a call

Compact IV now.
it doesn’t have the sliding keyboard but is still an amazing piece of magic.

I agree with the, “why isn’t it distributed in the U.S. at the same time”, crowd. I’m a T-Mobile subscriber here in California. I went for their “hotspot@home” feature in lieu of paying the high price for an iphone with AT&T as provider (I had Cingular and it sucked).
Now that iphones are coming down in price, I may get lured back unless T-mobile can come up with a reasonably priced counter to the iphone (and yes, with hotspot, wi-fi, bluetooth, interface with outlook’s calander and contacts–oh yes, and don’t forget GPS. That’s the only use I now have for my Axim X5 with Pharos GPS(a great system in its day)!!
