BlackBerry Thunder

As reported over at Boy Genius Report, the newest BlackBerry will jump on the touchscreen bandwagon with the all-new BlackBerry Thunder.  Though very few details are known about it as this time, some things are known, such as:

-The picture in question, leaked to Boy Genius Report, shows a device that looks a great deal like some were expecting: a tablet shape with a relatively large screen.

-No keyboard, not even a sliding one, appears in the picture, and neither does a trackball. There are, however, a full collection of standard control buttons.

-It is expected to be released at some point before the end of this year. The the leaked image has the Verizon Wireless logo, which means it will run on CDMA wireless networks, but a wide variety of carriers are likely to eventually offer this model, including ones that use the GSM standard.

I have not used the Blackberry system. Does anyone use Verizon and have some comments on the service, price and phones they would like to share? I am coming up for an upgrade on my phone and would like to quit carrying a phone and pda separately...but the Moto Q that I had before returning to a phone only was a real hunk of garbage...it barely made it to the warranty period and the voice system did not work at all...
  • Honestly, I am quite excited about this phone. I love what the Blackberry can do now, and if there's a new interface that WORKS WELL, then I'm sold.

I still have my iPod touch for all that other goodness :)

A lot of people are going to love this, especially if it has the same GUI found on the new Bold.

I think they should have gone with the slide out keyboard, as is it goes up against the iPhone and to me the iPhone would win for most people...even companies now since the iPhone has exchange support.
