Does this actually download some sort of map data such that the phone becomes a true GPS device or does it require a data connection as well?

In other words, should I just stick with google maps?

This does not work on my Ipaq 111. Shows an error Failed to start application (0000007e).
  • The User interface leaves a bit to be desired.... and the directions don't have that 3d animated map that that the likes of Tom Tom has....

but it is free (until 2010 anyway) and you don't need to pre-load it with maps

good find - it's nice to know there's something free out there with "worldly" access.
