I am surprised that people were looking for *more* from this keynote. Honestly, I had basically just ignored most rumors that I saw, so I was pretty surprised mostly by the price of the unit. This thing is cheaper than an iPod Touch (of course, you also pay $30 a month for data and more for a voice plan for 2 years, so there is that . . .)

The first hour seemed a bit boring to me, but that MobileMe may have a dumb name, but that is wicked nice looking technology. I'm sort of glad I kept the dot Mac family plan now.

I also was waiting for the big, "Oh, and did we mention it makes coffee?" presentation by Mr. Jobs... Guess not this round...

I do like the starting price point, that's a plus in it's favor. I hope to see a lot of spring boarding for developed apps for it. ::Crosses fingers::

The addition of Exchange support is good news. (I am sure that the decision to pay MS for Exchange licensing was a tough one to make at Apple)

The problem comes for those of us who work for companies with standardized IT departments that move slow. I work for a company with almost 100,000 employees world wide. I bet it will at least a year before we roll out support for Exchange. As a recovering IT professional, I know you can't roll out the latest just because it's cool - you have to make sure that it doesn't break anything. Business continuity is WAY more important than cool.

Jerry, I would love to say the same. I've been a Windows Mobile advocate for a long time and even my geekiest friends give me a hard time about holding out. The reality is that the platform is showing its age and the new kid on the block has got it going on!
Without Outlook Mobile and iSilo, the usefulness of my phone drops massively.
Umm...you do know that the iPhone will be compatible with Exchange Sync? You also know that the current iPhone syncs contacts and calendar with Outlook on the PC?

As for an eBook reader, I guarantee you one (or more) will be available soon. The device is too nice a book-style reader not to have one.

I agree with Brian completely about 1 and 3. Without Outlook Mobile and iSilo, the usefulness of my phone drops massively.

The 3G iPhone looks like it is an even greater consumer product then the original but as for the Enterprise market, I think Apple is underestimating just how reluctant most IT depts are to allow Apple products on their networks in large numbers.

I find myself wanting one of these in the worst way, but 90% of my PocketPC usage is for 3 activities:
1) Push email support from my company (mega corp that may never extend iPhone support)
2) Tethered data usage for which I pay extra and we have heard nothing about this option (I doubt it's coming)
3) eBook reading - I have hope that ereader will release an iPhone client

I think the new phone is a great platform for lots of folks, but it doesn't look like there will be one in my future any time soon.

I was really surprised there was not a typical Jobsian surprise in the end. The new iPhone, while certain to please the faithful due to the long leaked 3G and bring in new users with the lower price point, seems to be lacking the "wow factor" pop of the first one.

Also and totally OT, Steve looks very thin and ill on stage which makes me very concerned for him. I wish him well against an adversary that make MS and Google combined look like pushovers.

Any more detail on the GPS? I assume the GPS receiver is built-in and we can load 3rd party maps? Or will we have to download maps as we go, thus needing a real time connection for GPS?
