A few days ago I commented about the Celio Redfly adding support for BlackBerrys. I came across that bit of information first while researching to purchase a Celio RedFly myself and then while I’ve been …

Latest AT&T ROM Offers HardSPL v3.56

So if you thought you had the latest and greatest HardSPL version to flash your favorite 6.1 ROM, here is another version for you, HardSPL v3.56. Once again jocky over at xda-developers has given us another version to help make the Windows Mobile 6.1 ROMS perform better and eliminate the screen freeze issues.

So what’s different? Even jocky doesn’t know but this new HardSPL version was taken from the latest AT&T ROM dated June 6th, 2008. Here is a link where jocky’s thread starts with the version 3.56 (post 171 click here) If you are already running HardSPL version 3.29 which is recommended for AT&T users, I’m not sure that upgrading to this version will be worth it or not, but seeing how I have not had the time (or been home long enough) to flash the Diamond ROM yet, I am going to give this a try later tonight.

If you want more information on how to install the new HardSPL version, kyphur has done an outstanding job detailing how to install it, and how to remedy any problems that may arise. In all seriousness, this is the most well documented instructional I have ever read on XDA. Great Job kyphur! Please read the the first two posts (CLICK HERE) on this thread from START to FINISH! Then go flash! (please make sure you do so in the privacy of your own home!) LOL :)

  • Thanks! I will be flashing back right away to the 3.29 HardSPL. I have all kinds of bugs... Thanks for the heads up Chris!
  • Christopher Spera
I flashed back to Hard SPL 3.29, and viola! the screen freezes went away! Something isn't quite right with Hard SPL 3.56...
  • I hope that is it because I have always liked Duttys ROMS and I was going to flash back to 4/29... Keep us posted and thanks for sharing the information!

I am starting to experience screen freezes with hard SPL 3.56 and Dutty's 07-Jun-08 ROM. I may go back to HSPL 3.29 to see if it makes a difference. I wasn't having the screen issues with this ROM until after I upgraded my SPL...

    Is anyone else seeing this?
  • The June Tilt ROM came right from jocky over at XDA. The first link I posted will take you there. I have not heard of this ROM either, but since it is his HardSPL, I had to post it as the source. With that being said, I flashed Dutty's Diamond ROM last night and it is very buggy. Windows Media player searching for music forces a soft reset. The radio has given me nightmares in Dallas and Lubbock today. (Why nothing has been responded to by me today) It is fast though, and it takes up much less memory.

Thanks artwoof- it appears I was able to do it on the first try! Next stop, diamond rom.
  • max947
no, there isn't an official windows mobile 6.1 released for the tilt, yet. It should come soon, but if you can't wait, many people over at forum.xda-developers have cooked roms with windows mobile 6.1 built-in.

just make sure you hardspl before flashing!
  • ryan
I think the hardspl came from an at&t rom for another phone. Similar to how the cooks use diamond dll's ported to the tilt.

According to the HTC/Tilt support site, the latest ROM update is version 1.62.502.0, which is the 1/17/08 date referred to above. Guess I misunderstood the posting here.
  • Gary
thanks, I saw that. The article above refers to "the latest AT&T ROM dated June 6th, 2008." That's what I haven't been able to find.
  • marty madrid
there is a rom update for the tilt as 0f 1/17/08. look on the att site or htcwiki
  • Gary
Pardon me, but I'm not all that clear on this stuff. Did AT&T release a new WM6.1 ROM for the Tilt? If so, where can I find that? I've never been bold enough to flash any of the cooked ROM's, so I'm still runnning the 8/25/07 ROM. If there is a new official ROM, I would like to try that. Thanks for any help.

If you get into bootloader, by holding down the camera, power button and inserting the stylus for 3-5 seconds it will tell you in the second line of text spl 3.56.Hard. the bootloader screen is the tri color one. to get out of bootloader, perform a soft reset

So I followed the steps in kyphur's post and I think I installed it correctly. How do I know that I was successful? None of the Device Information seems to have changed.
  • Christopher Spera
I have the white screen issue on my Tilt that is described in some of the trouble shooting posts. I have to use JumpSPL 1.56 to get the new Hard SPL's flashed. That said, I was able to get this installed the other day, and haven't noticed any difference between 3.29 and 3.56.
