imageTricker Tracker is a free new program which provides real-time GPS tracking for you device. The mobile client installs easily on your phone and runs in the background, sending information to TrickerTracker’s servers updating your real-time position. Your position is then updated on a live map and viewable from your browser. (Public Maps can be enabled or disabled so you can share your location with friends or keep the information private.)

Driving aside, this program can also be useful for joggers and bikers who can’t measure their speed and route, as they can look online and view their stats, similar to the Nike+iPod kit. Tricker Tracker can also prove especially useful if your device has become lost or stolen, as an exact GPS coordinate can be viewed on a map so you can find your device.

Head on over to TrickerTracker.com for more information and to download. This is one of the few programs of the genre, and best of all, it’s free!

just to add bout the restarting of your phone and the app not working well i think that if your tilt get stolen and a thief try the restart u will be protect if u put the password so on every hour u got 2 put the password in i mean the only one that know how to do hard reset to the cell is these community so I'm guessing a thief would not know how 2 do it right so if he don't take the password out he would not be able to do a lot with it if you know where I'm going with this but to the owner of the app is just what i needed since i live in new york n e thing can happen and since these thief here are so dumb they don't even know who they messing with so thanks a lot for that

I agree about the importance of restarting automatically the application after a phone reset without re-entering the parameters, and running minimized so you don't see the UI.

That's enable to track kids for example without a chance to have the app disturbed, or a thief, as the first thing he will do is to change the SIMM & reset.
    Great App!
  • Thank you for your reply. Keep up the good work!
  • JR. I am the developer and I appreciate the feedback. The website is definitely PC only at the moment but I am planning on developing a mobile version. The maps which are currently displayed from Google maps are not the mobile versions and thus may not display properly on mobile devices. Therefore, the website is at the mercy of the mobile browser and how well it renders standard web pages.

Currently, the application does not restart itself automatically if the phone is shut off and I honestly had not thought of this functionality. There may be security issues with trying to implement this and Windows Mobile may not even allow it (if it does, it may be more appropriate to use a separate utility for this). Also, you are right in saying that if you shut off the app and restart it, you have to put in your username and password again. I can definitely add code to prevent the user from retyping every time. Today, the user should simply start the application and minimize it. You can start and stop the GPS uploads and minimize the application to avoid having to retype username and password. The application is not full-proof if your device is stolen since it doesn't run "hidden", but most casual users or thieves might not even know the application is running unless you look for it. Hopefully if someone steals your phone while the app is running, the thief won't discover it until he gets home and by that time it would be too late since his house coordinates would have been sent to your account.
  • I see your cause for concern. Contact the developer and post back on here what he says, so anyone following this can learn more. I'm not sure if he designed the maps to be viewed on Pocket IE/Opera to be honest, try Skyfire? And I see where you're coming from on the saving info and startup issue, those should be some type of preferences.
  • This application works, but has flaws I will write and send do the developer. Using Tilt, Cannot view my map in IE at all, In Opera, the map is not rendered correctly. Views fine on PC though. Have to re-enter info at restart of application, user name, password and settings. Application does not restart with Device restart or power up. So if your phone is stolen and the application is running, it can be shutoff but turning off the phone. Didn't try with sleep or soft reset.

So I'm a little slow on the uptake at times, but if I get this right, this app will show me where I've been, or where I am (a big step for some people I realize), but not how to get somewhere. I guess that can be useful. Pretty cool actually. I'll have to play with it more. I really like the idea of being able to track a lost phone. And The Price is certainly Excellent!
  • I wasn't that clear in the post- The device updates your position on either 2 or 5 minute intervals ('power-save' mode) and there are future plans for other intervals. This means that the battery doesn't drain nearly as quickly as it would if you were using a GPS navigation software, such as Google Maps or Live Search. It terms of the device slowing down, it's negligable on the Tilt. If you have further questions, feel free to email them directly using the contact information on their site.

How much battery life does it suck up while it's constantly running the background?

How much does the device slow down while it's running?
