TiltSite Poll: Which ROM are You Using?

It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.

With the amount of cooked ROMS that are now available for the AT&T Tilt & HTC TyTN II, you have a lot of choices you can make. Do you stay with the original ROM supplied with your device and just wait for next Official release? Or do you try a cooked ROM? And if you decide to try a cooked ROM, WHICH ONE?!?!?

I thought I would throw this Poll up and see what everyone was using. Feel free to post a comment about what you liked and didn’t like about the ROM you are using.

Honestly, I've been flashing ROM's for the past months. I truly cannot stand all the bugs that Windows Mobile 6.1 has. I just wish that a chef will make a ROM based on Windows Mobile 6 again, because they have much less bugs. For now, I am on the stock AT&T ROM, again.

    Danny-
What specifically is so great about L26 v.7? I know I want some version of the Diamond ROM. I currently use the HTC rom on my Tilt and have no problems. Is Laurentis' version as stable?
  • Danny
L26 V7 -- this rom is unbelievable. v8 is probably even better, but it is a "light" rom and I love the features packed in with v7

I am now giving dutty's 07-Jun ROM a shot. I've also flashed the newest version of Hard SPL, 3.56 this morning, too. (thought, while I was at it, I would give the other ROM a go...)

I posted before about SBP Mobile Shell 2.0 on the TIlt prematurely. IT KILLS THE BATERY LIFE. It must overclock the TIlt. It definaely perks it up but the battery sucks down very fast.

I use the T-Mobile default ROM.

I use q mobile 1.2, fastest rom out there. Nothing can compete!

This section, from the previous link that I posted, should pretty much answer your questions, and tell you what you need to do to flash a new ROM:

I'd much rather have a tutorial on how to correctly flash a rom. XDA has hundreds of posts and tons of information it's sort of overwhelming. I'm also pretty afraid to mess up my phone. Looks like I'll be on the stock rom I got with it in Dec 2007 until a tutorial comes out

I am using L26Diamond V_7. It was released today. I had one heck of a time getting Hard SPL on the device but was able to figure it out with help from Doug (thanks again, dude!)

its interesting how differently the device functions from ROM to ROM. Its going to be fun looking at all of the different functionality in all of the different ROM's now that I can flash them!

i tried the diamond but went back to tilt rom because of bugs. after i installed rom phone locked up and tomtom wouldnt work
  • Tony
Just curious. But why are you guys still using the stock ROM? It's so slow and unreliable. After a week of using it I couldn't stand it anymore.
  • Tony
I'm using Dutty's Hybrid 6.1 Hybrid ROM. Best ROM i've used so far. Doesn't eat memory or RAM. Fast and reliable. I'll be sticking to this ROM unless there's a significant change with the V2 ROM he's working on.

It's really not hard to flash a new ROM guys. Just do some reading on the Wiki and you'll be fine.

1.Backup phone numbers etc. using PIM backup or whatever else.
    2. Install HardSPL.
    3. Flash the ROM.
    4. Reinstall your apps. SPB Backup 2.0 should help in this department. I haven't tried it myself tho.

    Easy...

For those looking to flash a new ROM, but don't know how, I suggest you start with the following link. It is a very easy process, but I HIGHLY suggest that you read, read, read, and then read some more. I don't mean to scare anyone, but if you don't pay attention, you could brick your phone, and then it's just a pretty paperweight. Once you learn the process though, flashing custom ROM's is a wonderful world.

I first flashed L26 v5 and loved it. Then i saw that dutty released a new rom so I thought id try since I hear so much hype about it. Unfortunately I found it to be not quite as fast as the L26 and something just didnt feel right after comming from it. I flashed back to L26 V6 and its blazing fast!

I'm using the ATT stock ROM (the upgrade that came out 2/08) but I recently did something that perked up my Tilt that I wanted to share. I did a hard reset (my device was getting laggy) and then added SPB Mobile Shell 2.0. This program totally rocks! The user interface goes deep into the WM OS and It definitely seems to greatly improve overall performance. For the moment, the thing is working so well, I'm tempted to not upgrade when/if ATT launches a 6.1 ROM.
  • Jason
Ditto above! I'd love to flash my tilt with a better rom (the stock is so slow), but I'm waiting for a tutorial from you guys! :) Thankss
  • David Gray
I'm waitin' on you guys again. You made it possible and understandable for me to do the last one and do the Kaiser Tweaks and dump all the damn AT&T filler, so i'm hoping you'll post just as useful an update guide this next time. I'm also hoping this next version is worth it. I HATE reloading all my apps, but i also just got an 8GB card (thanx again to you) so i'm sure it will all be worthwhile, as I am an incurable collector of every app that looks at all appealing. Let's go....

I'm using L26Diamond V_5. Awesome ROM, fast, and stable. I wanted to use V6 but Resco(and any other keyboard for that matter) can't be set to default no matter what I try. And I'm not a fan of the Diamond keyboards. So I'm sticking with V5. Dutty also makes fantastic ROMs.
  • Jason
I tried using Dutty's latest a couple of days ago, and ran into more issues than it was worth, so I have gone back to my tried and true:

    Alex's v5.2 Games ROM
