Brad Linder at the always excellent Liliputing is running a poll on what his readers feel is the hottest of the devices in the current UMPCaloosa. The leader at the moment? Take a look at the big board below (drum roll please…):

poll

Yes, it’s the MSI Wind with almost fifty percent of the vote! Who could have predicted that MSI would have one of the hottest devices of the summer? Of course, who could have predicted Asus would have one of the hottest devices of LAST summer. That’s the great thing about gadgets…always full of surprises.

The Wind is riding excellent specs and low price to the win, despite already blowing one roll out date due to poor execution. Will the market forgive another such mistake, and will things change once we know more about the enigmatic challenger, the Dell E? Does Asus, the wily veteran in this space, have a surprise in store….and what about the upstarts at Gigabyte and Acer? What do YOU think?

Votes are still being accepted, so run over HERE to fly your UMPC flag.

By day a department manager and writer for a major network device vendor...by night Zealot stalks the mean magnetic streets, striking fear into the hearts of bandwidth abusers and theme park mascots. Zealot has been involved with mobile devices for more than a decade now, starting off with dumb phones, moving to PDAs and then to smartphones, notebooks and netbooks with the odd PMP thrown in. Most of his mobile time currently is spent on a Treo Pro, Zune HD, Thinkpad T61, Gigabyte M912M or a Hackintoshed Compaq Mini 704. He proudly groks the Geek community and considers himself a Neo Maxi Zune Dweebie (thanks Will Wheaton!).
