Hey, I've tried flashing a rom a few times, but every time i run SSPL-KAIS, the screen turns white (not the tri-color screen) and stays that way. What am I doing wrong?

I have flashed my tilt with [Apr 29]Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700 cooked rom. Some things are not working.

First my gps. Ive tried gps test and all the settings, tried all settings in external gps but all I get from gps test is "Gps starting up" its not working. Second. For some reason. I put my gmail email on my phone but all I get is "error syncronizing" cannot connect with current configuration settings, and I get no mail. Third, is the weather plug in that comes with the rom. I try to download weather data. But all it says is that unable to retrieve data from city and cant download. Probably something to do with connection settings. Also my keyboard lags a lot when I type. I dont know how to fix all this so can someone please assist me. I am new to all this.

__ Maybe its because of the radio??? I didnt use the one that came with this rom. I installed the new one that came with the official wm 6.1. Radio: 1.65.21.18

@Rocio: I doubt the AT&T official ROM will be out by tomorrow. We've been in touch with HTC and AT&T and watching all the usual places really closely and nothing thus far. There have been a few false alarms too but they've not been the official ones yet either.

Best thing to do is follow the instructions that are on the download page. They shouldn't require JumpSPL and such (although this method is preferable) but they may, so check out the instructions that come with the download.

Tyler,

This is the woman with a thousand questions. lol

I believe the official ATT Rom will be out by tomorrow morning, now you said that all I needed to do was run the program.
Now does this mean I wont have to use any more jump and or hard spl after being already used when I flashed my tilt with the official HTC ROM?

Sorry for the ignorance but we cant play around with something as serious as this. Thank goodness we have smart people such as yourself

Thanks

Rocio

@Rocio: The forums you're looking at are specifically for reflashing the stock ROM for warranty return. That's why you keep seeing that.

To get back to an original ROM, all you have to do is download the latest ROM from AT&T's website (if that's who you go with) and run that program. Keep in mind that this will return the ROM to a locked state (id est, you can only run AT&T SIM cards in the phone)

And you're seeing an H because most ROMs enable HSDPA which is a software enhancement to 3G/UTMS (it's sometimes called 3.5G). It's a speed enhancement to your downstream connection.

Thank you for the fast response. Now I have more questions. But first, I'm happy to announce that thanks to your video I flashed my phone and its working like a charm! :)
The bad thing is I don't think I like wm 6.1, and want to go back to factory rom, spl and everything just the way I got it from the store. Is that possible? and if so, how?
Now there's this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335568) which reverts the rom but at the very end it says send the device back to the company. Why is that? is it because it wont be operating the same after reverting?
My last question is now with the new rom I get an H istead of the regular 3g. Why is that?

Ok now I'm done.

Thanks again in advance for your help!

@Rocio: No, flashing is like reinstalling your operating system on your PC. Once you flash a new ROM, everything is a blank slate up to what the ROM image includes. But you will be able to flash the official AT&T ROM should you so choose.

Hi, I have one question. I want to use the official HTC WM 6.1 on my tilt, but I would like to flash the official AT&T Rom once it comes out. Can I flash the official AT&T WM 6.1 Rom after the official HTC WM 6.1 without having to change anything else on my phone?

Thanks in advance.

@Escape: the radio controls things like the GPS, GSM/GPRS(aka cellular), and otherwise. So yes it does have stuff to do with signal. However, messing up your radio has dire effects so I typically don't recommend changing the radio if you're new to flashing if everything is working with the version you currently have installed. Messing up the radio can brick your phone and pretty quick.

@Escape: No you only have to flash the recommended version (or the version of your choice) one time. You DO have to use SPPL-KAIS (aka SoftSPL) every time you want to reflash your HardSPL, but not when you want to flash a ROM.

When flashing a ROM it's advisable to Hard reset both before and after flashing. Also each individual ROM cook has their own individual recommendations.

Also you may want to read this article that I wrote http://tiltsite.com/2008/07/what-about-bricking-or-what-exactly-bricks-a-device/
