It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.

I have taken the new 2.0 Software and thrown it on my Gen 1 iPhone that was collecting dust. Here is a little video with a couple peeks at the software.

Read on to find out how you can get 2.0 now and what you need to do to install it. You could wait until tommorow, but hey… I also have some thoughts on my 1st couple hours with the new software’s implentation of Microsoft Exchange Server support and a bunch of screen shots.

If you want to go ahead and install the software now, grab the “unreleased” file from Apple’s servers. They don’t like the file being linked since they asked macrumors to remove it, but you can find the link at placed like Engadget.(hint – The link is the Read text at the bottom of the post on that page)

Next, you have to go to Apple.com and download v7.7 of iTunes. Upgrade it.

  1. Open itunes
  2. Bring up the iPhone screen
  3. Click on the “Check for updates” button while holding the shift key
  4. Select new .ispw file you downloaded

The process takes 15-20 minutes, don’t freak out.

Anyhow, now let me tell you one thing. WoooHoooooo…. Exchange Server Support and it freaking works. Hell yeah! That’s about all I can say. I tested a bunch of scenarios I will encounter and they all passed. I am all set. No more complaints about that aspect from me.

Next complaint I had with the 1st iPhone was 3rd Party Software… well, that’s fixed too. (in case you’ve been under a rock) Here are some random screenies… Click em for full size.

I've heard a lot of things about upgrading my iPhone from 1.1.4 to 2.0 on my Jailbroken copy, that it doesn't work and will become a brick. Do you know if this is true and if it is, is there a jailbreak version for this? And if it's not true, how and where can I get a 2.0 version to load up on my Jailbroken copy, and what is the procdure for upgrading to 2.0 so that my iPhone still works afterwards.
