It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.

tiltthumb They say the first step to beating an addiction is to admit that you have a problem. Well, I am addicted to reading everything in print about the Tilt/TyTN II and testing software. This includes Flashing more ROM’s than I can count. I always think that this next ROM will be the most perfect ROM ever! It might even be powerful enough to get me a cold beverage from my refrigerator! Well, we all know that your Ice Cold Beverage of choice will not be brought to you by your next ROM Flash, nor will there ever be a perfect ROM. What’s really important is that you pick a ROM that is perfect for you, and comes from a respectable Chef.

I just finished reading an absolutely spot on thread at XDA by GSLEON3. He is issuing the following warning:

“I do NOT want to see anyone extracting & posting or flashing the Diamond Radio. You just may kill an unknowing Noobies device. If you do, there will be no saving you. Not by me, not by Jocky, Not by Pof, Olinex nor anyone else here.’

The thread goes on to say that the Diamond, Touch Pro ROM’s are also very dangerous if Flashed as a whole. Obviously there are some Veteran Chef’s that have extracted certain elements of the ROM and built them into and updated drivers within the OS. XDA Member Dangerously comments:

“I just want to make some things clear in the light of our well known ROM chefs: replacing drivers and updating items within an OS (and only the OS) is fine. You will not kill firmware, boot loaders, etc. The Kaiser “Diamond” ROMs that are floating around on our Kaiser ROM development (this forum) are fine to use as these do not contain firmware, Radios, or the Diamond SPL (boot loader). Every device is different, just like a car. You wouldn’t want to put diesel in a gas/petrol car would you? And that analogy works with any electronic device and not just our phones.”

The point of my article here is to caution you as GSLEON3, and Dangerously have done so well. TiltSite has posted information on Flashing ROMs including a Video “How To” by Tyler (CLICK HERE to check it out!) and I want to make clear to everyone that you have to READ the whole thread on the particular ROM you are interested in. You have to Flash the right radio if it is not included in the ROM, and also make sure that you use the right SPL (boot loader). All this information is always available from the Chef in the 1-3 posts by the Chef. Again, make sure you read the ROM instructions!

ROM Flashing is fun, just make sure you follow the directions, and ask questions if you are confused. And as mentioned above, when a new ROM, or Radio become available, make sure it is tested by a Quality Chef first.
