It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.

bestbuybthelp After pouring through post after post about the iPhone 3G, I must admit, I was feeling a little nauseated. So when I saw this on Engadgetmobile, it really depressed me. It appears you can now go down to Best Buy and pay $9.99 to have someone from “Geek Squad” pair your Bluetooth Headset to your phone.

I know that some States have made talking on your phone while driving illegal, requiring those who “need” to talk to purchase a headset, either wired or wireless (Bluetooth).

I have rewrote this article at least 5 times now. It made me mad that a company of Best Buy’s size could not offer this as a service. Look at the mileage they could have got! “Bring down your cell phone and BT Headset, and we will pair them FREE!” Wow, they could have had an opportunity to up sell the customer on a new phone, or even  a better BlueTooth Headset! Instead, they chose to charge nOObs (probably older, non computer people) money.

I guess I’m done ranting. What do you think? Post a comment and let us know.

What ever happened to customer service?

only noobs goes to best buy to buy everything they want for a horribly high price and bad customer service.
  • kiddo? I haven't been called that one in a while... :)

I agree with your last point that by putting a price on it and doing it for free, would get a lot more mileage out of it. But, I doubt that many of the employees there would care to get any mileage.
  • I think that it'd be dumb to offer it for free because there are lots of different phones out there and there could actually end up being some complications...especially if the user has a phone that isn't one sold by Best Buy.

If they offered it as a free service w/ the purchase of the phone, people would think it was a ploy and just another hassle to worry about.

That being said, I bet a salesperson at Best Buy could offer to do it free anyways if the customer purchases the phone. So there's still an opening to sell. Only difference is that now they can point to a sign and say "this is a service that would cost you money otherwise"

    Get it now kiddo?
