to harry: The GSM ones now available are from Europe for T-Mobile there and do not have all of the necessary quad bands for the US. You would get very poor coverage. Their data bands are also somewhat incompatible depending on your carrier or the speed you expect.

We have done our research, maybe you need to dig a little deeper or spend $1k on a phone that would not work very well in the US . . .

Maybe you should buy one and tell us how good it works here in the US.

I'm glad that the touch pro will be CDMA. I just hope that Verizon will release it. Verizon seems to be behind all the time. I wanted the Tytn 2 very badly but it was never released with CDMA. So hopefully this won't be an only Sprint phone.

It appears that the only version to go through the FCC is the CDMA version. The FCC process is not that easy but for a seasoned company like HTC is is easier. The need to add a band or two to the existing European version of the T-Mobile phone. Radios are not easy inbthe same case . . . especially if GPS is involves. different chip sets and all that . . . It is not the same phone . . .

There are GSM and CDMA versions of the HTC Touch Pro, AT&T is GSM... The CDMA version coming for Sprint doesn't mean anything, AT&T could pick up the Touch Pro GSM just as easily.

I am also a somewhat satisfied Sprint user because of data speed and my Mogul. I need more memory and the Touch Pro seems to be just the phone, plus there is the styling and 6.1 and TouchFlo. Sooner the better.

I love my Tilt (still want those drivers though) and was hoping the Touch Pro would be the replacement for my much loved device. There is a blurb on Boy Genius Reports that has some insight to AT&T's upcoming road map that does hint to both WinMo 6.1 for the Tilt and also a Tilt II in the works. Do you think the Touch Pro could be mad with the tilt screen to become (TADA!!) the Tilt 2?

Even if you buy the Touch Pro you will still be required to visit TiltSite at least twice a week! There is no leaving!!!! LOL

Also, you can gloat about that fabulous keyboard and what will hopefully be an awesome screen! Let's hope HTC is working hard on the Driver side of the equation too. The Diamond has already had several ROM updates.

I'm right there with ya in the "bummed out" section. I was REALLY anticipating the release of the diamond pro. I loved the idea of the diamond, but had already made up my mind that I would pass because of a lack of a physical keyboard... when all of a sudden i heard about the diamond PRO. I won't even PRETEND here... i just knew that both devices belonged in the fold at AT&T and knew I'd be getting one soon after they released it. After I read this morning about the CDMA version... i bummed out. Verzion or Sprint don't DESERVE this phone! The service STINKS on sprint (i have a nextel/sprint hybrid phone for work.. uuuuuugh. and a friend who has sprint... we just talk when he's home where the service is the most reliable....). Verizon locks up the features into an almost unusable state.... i was sorely disappointed with that announcement. I sincerely hope that AT&T is still able to secure this phone.. on one hand.. YAAAAAY FOR HTC!!! and on the other BOOOOO FOR SPRINT!!!

*sigh*

I'm a rare breed - a mostly satisfied Sprint user. (Their fast EVDO network really makes all the difference)

As such, I'm eagerly awaiting the touch pro and am quite pleased it's coming to Sprint first. It's nice not to have to wait around for a year for a cutting edge device. I haven't used TouchFLO 3D yet, but it looks quite nice and will make all my iPhone toting friends, if not reconsider their iPhone, at least look twice and not patronize me with sympathy over using a WinMo device.
