There are iPhone exclusive apps because there are only two versions of the phone out there. That has to make life easier for app developement compared to trying to test WinMo apps for the touchscreen/non-touchscreen, qvga/vga/square/wvga, WinMo 6/6.1/5/2003SE wifi/Edge/3G/EVDO devices.

Not to mention the question of how much hardware support the app will have with video acceleration and processor speed & memory.

The iPhone is probably a cakewalk for developers to program for by comparison.

Where is all the BlackBerry love??? Blackberry has gtalk for practically all its devices and AIM is on TMo and AT&T has a carrier specific app for AIM, Windows Live, and another, but I forgot what it is! Besides, the BlackBerry operating systems are so much better anyway. Now,I'm not bashing WinMo, just sayin... Plus, for the fashion conscience, RIM is coming out with a touchscreen BlackBerry soon.

I've noticed quite a few mobile applications being introduced to the iPhone only market. It really saddens me that these companies are ignoring the windows mobile user. My inclination is to seek out alternative sites and software. . . if these companies don't want my mobile business, then I will go elsewhere.

Don't, I beg you, give up on WinMo... Do, I suggest, stop using OEM apps; maybe use Mundu IM or Fring; they will work for many different accounts; I have a bunch, and I like being able to chat from within one app :-)
