pc_capture98 I know many of you did not wait for the public release of Opera 9.5 to become available through the Opera Website, but instead opted to install Opera Version 9.5 Build 1409 taken from the HTC Diamond which was embedded in the OE ROM. Then finally the Opera 9.51 Build 1718 was released for public beta on 07/17/07. (CLICK HERE). However, loaded with bugs and rendering issues, see photo below, build 1718 was not met with too much love from testers.

So today on XDA-Developers, a new Opera 9.5 Build 1660 taken from the HTC Diamond has surfaced. Reading some of the posts it appears that it is an improvement over the other builds listed above. The rendering of TiltSite is much improved, but for some reason I am not able to pull up the help section after navigating around some other websites. After closing Opera, then re-opening it, I was able to navigate back to the Help section. So it appears there may still be some bugs yet to work out, but this version does appear to run a lot smoother and load pages faster. Also, it renders website much better over official beta version released from Opera, Build 1718.

The photo on the left is Opera 9.51 Build 1718 Beta rendering TiltSite, and the version on the right is the new build 1660 taken from the HTC Diamond over at XDA.

You can get Build 1660 over at XDA (CLICK HERE) to try out for yourself. Be sure to scroll down and grab the QVGA version that we need for our Tilt/TyTN II. As always, if you choose to do so, it is at your own risk, and we are not liable, yadda, yadda, yadda… HAVE FUN!

Is it just my phone setup or flash is not enabled in this browser? My Skyfire(beta) browser seems to render flash objects well.

I am noticing it closing the address bar too. Didn't realize it at first because I use TouchPal for most of the short things I type.

In my opinion though (based on how I use the browser) having my selected default SIP stay the same and not disabling my sound notifications make it worth dealing with a soft-keyboard for typing in the browser.

Ya it closes the address bar, but it doesn't disable all my notification sounds.

I resisted using the original Diamond build, but decided to give this one a go. This really does function loads better than the current Beta build. I like the skin on it better too.

Didn't work so well for me. When I slide out the keyboard and try to type in a URL, it keeps closing the address bar after I press a few keys. Really annoying.
Maybe it's cuz I have the default ROM.
I switched back to the public beta...
  • Where is this new 1600 build coming from? I thought the Diamonds had the 1409 build on them.
