For the time being, functionality is limited to text and image messaging but Palringo promises vocal IM in the second release version. In the meantime, iPhone owners can now enjoy free text and image IM on whichever IM platform they like. Just hit the App Store and you’re good to go.

I have used this app on Win Mo platform for a while and let me say it is GREAT! Very functional and supports nearly every major IM network. I am stoked to see this come to iPhone… although wondering how useful it will be as a complete IM replacement since it does not seem to be able to run in the background as a service, like on Win Mo. It’s "walkie-talkie" functionality is coming in the next rev.
