When did this merger talk start up? It’s been so long that I can’t even remember. I do remember passing on buying myself a Pioneer Inno because of the uncertainty that this merger put on things. It’s finally done according to the AP though…

XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio say they have completed their merger.

The new company plans to change its name to Sirius XM Radio Inc. The combined company’s stock will continue to be traded on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol SIRI.

The company says it now has more than 18.5 million subscribers. It expects cost savings from the deal of about $400 million in 2009.

I've been waiting for this for a while.

Once they complete their merger (from a tech standpoint) the XM radio/siriusCE apps will need updates, but then mobile users will have a much larger channel selection.

There was also talk of new radios with dual antenna systems and/or dual channel lineups on each satellite system
