I’m interested in a few of the new features of 6.1…but am worried that if I remove the bloat…they will go away too.

Does the Voice Command and Threaded SMS go away when bloat is removed?

Thanks Kip. Right now on 6.0 I have the HTCHomeplug checked off because I like the quick access to battery life, the Com Manager, Brightness, etc. On 6.1 is there a checkbox for both HTCHome and HTCHomeplug? I wouldn’t want to lose the HTCHomeplug.

@j You can turn that off to get away from the HTC Home, you do this in settings
Start/Settings
Click on Today
Click the “Items” tab
remove the check next to “HTC Home” and whatever else you don’t want.

That should get rid of it for you.

Is the only Today screen available after the 6.1 upgrade HTC home? I know I’m an outlier, but I like the WM 6.0 AT&T Today screen (specifically because I don’t need an enormous clock and I like how it doesn’t aggregate email)

@Johnny B: You need to actually do the soft reset BEFORE the countdown begins but AFTER you have gone through the tutorials. it’s a very short window of opportunity.

Keep in mind, you do not get rid of everything, just the stuff that installs AFTER the ROM is updated, there are still applications and such that ATT puts on their ROMS before the install (config stuff, etc).

@Daniel: That program is a 3rd party utility i installed (Not included on the ROM) so I could take the screen shots. It’s not part of the default installs.

i also did the soft reset as intructed (and have done in the past) and i am not bloatware free, is there another way to do this. it seems as if its not working for some people. thanks

What is the file for The “Web IS, Inc. Basic Screenshot”?
I expect it’ll be found in the Windows directory?
