AT&T and HTC Release WM 6.1 for the AT&T Tilt

AT&T Tilt ROM UpdateThe tipster was right on with the 26th being the date, I kind had a hunch since I had a little insight from HTC as well. :)

Anyhow, I was in training for work today when it hit and the emails started coming in that it was online now, so I made a post to discuss it on Tiltsite. Make sure to use the forums to discuss upgrading as well if you have tips or any problems.

Kris has promised to bring us more info as well, once he gets his flashed and all. Kip has posted a piece on the differences between the Bloat on the ROMs too.

So here it is, download it from HTC here.

This ROM update is intended for the AT&T Tilt only and users should not load or attempt to load this version on any other device as it may cause serious issues/damage.

    I have HTC TyTN1 and want to oppgrade from WM6.0 to WM 6.1 but when i start the file i downloaded from this site, my phone get black and log off my computer. and then the instal stop whit a error. End i take the cabel out and the phone is like it was whit 6.0. I use Win. Vista Home. Some one can help me ? i want 6.1 :D hehe

    i actually changed back to windows mobile 5 today. i wasnt feeling 6.1. all the features on 6.1 doesnt really change anything for me.

    Seems to work, but I cannot find Internet Sharing. Did they remove this feature? It was my favorite feature.

    Not bad - don't have a lot of 3rd party tho. What happened to the 'manage folders' in messaging - used that extensively.

    Anyone have problem with the keyboard in landscape mode when filling in dialog box in PIE? Whenever I switch to landscape mode to type and fill-in dialog, i.e. like entering username and password to log into websites, webmail, I can't see what I am typing, it all shows up invisible. I tried flashing it and hard resetting it a few times but still can't get it to work. Is there a cab file available to fix this?

    Everything is good with my Tilt. However, my screen keeps sleeping on me during calls. KaiserTweak is installed and the sleep mode is disabled. Anyone have any thoughts?

    Everything went fine with my download-got stuck on that color bar screen once-just started over and no problems. I couldn't get the sprite backup to work right. That was a pain finding and downloading everything again. Anyone know how to get my 24hr clock back. I'm probably skipping right past it, but I can't find that option.....the 12hr clock drives me MAD! Other than that-as I've been moving around on it, very fast and very smooth. Oh yeah, and I couldn't get the AT T junk to stop downloading. I'll get it outta there later. Very Exciting!

    Regarding my previous comment regarding BlackBerry Connect...

    AT&T states that the current release of BlackBerry Connect will not work with the WM 6.1 ROM that was released yesterday. A new version of the software is scheduled to be released today at 18:00 EDT on the HTC Support site.

    Wow ... I had forgotten what a pain it is to reapply all my little customizations to a device, let alone reinstall the software.

    For some reason SIPCHANGE doesn't like being in the startup folder any more. I get an error each time I softreset the device. The app itself works fine, it is just the startup item that fails on boot.

    Anyone else run into that?

    Is anyone having any problems with BlackBerry Conenct?

    I flashed the new ROM without issue, and for the most part all seems to be well except BB Connect.

    The software will initiate the connection to the BlackBerry network, but BB Connect will not connect to the server. A few seconds later the network connection is closed because it's not being used, and BB Connect just says "Not Connected."

    Anyone else use BlackBerry Connect? If so, how is it working for you?

    You don't wanna use the Sprite backup file to restore from...use the PIM backup...but I'm guessing it's probably a bit too late now for some of you :( Was I the only one that read the post earlier about preparing to flash to the new ROM and how to backup properly? ;)

    Here's the important excerpt:

    "Sprite Backup saves everything, so if the upgrade process goes awry you can easily go back to WM6 with out losing anything. The PIM backup saves just that, your call logs, text messages, contacts etc. This way after you upgrade you can immediately restore all those numbers that you don’t bother to remember because you have them saved on your Tilt."

    I backed my info up with the PIM backup...flashed my phone...restored from the PIM backup...reinstalled Skyfire, SPB Mobile Shell, Google Maps, Worms World Party, blah blah blah...all the 3rd party apps I use...and have yet to run into ANY issues. GLORIOUS!!!

    You cannot restore programs from a backup after a ROM upgrade.

    well i used sprite backup to re install software and backup my texts etc...and it has now disabled both windows live mail and texting on my phone. I can get the functions back, but now with the backups.

    i keep getting this message "new att policy, (insert feature) is no longer permitted on this device"
    WTF?!?!?!?!

    with
    texting, gps, webmail, old games, etc....

    Helixtimestwo, hit the soft reset button PRIOR to that customization box coming up. Basically, as soon as the home screen starts loading.

    That will interrupt the cycle, and insure the AT&T customizations do not start.

    I can't stop the at&t bloatware from installing...I hit the soft reset button when the 'customization will start in 3 seconds' box comes up, but it just takes it back to a hard reset state where I have to align screen, skip the tutorial, etc...

    help?!

    What type of problems have you run into carl? I've yet to run into any, but I haven't started installing things yet.

    there have been a few problems, i don't think that this is that great of a rom....

    Thank the heavens! I got it up and running already, and the device is quite a bit snappier in it's actions. But maybe that's because now it's wiped clean (for now) of apps and whatnot.

    Regardless, this was a long awaited update, and is pretty good :D

    The flashing was really easy too, pretty much user-free.
  • did the upgrade and then did a full restore with Sprite. It locked up at startup. Hard reset to get back to pre restore, I think I'll reload my software one at a time.
