Thoughts on the ROM update

I love to test and use custom ROMs, and have not used an official ROM for many months, so I decided that I should try the new ROM, and see how it compared to the custom ROMs that I have been using, and I was pleasantly surprised, despite having the usual extra step to remove the bloat that AT&T decides that we need to clog up our otherwise nice ROMs, it is decently fast, and has many of the features that I had jumped ship to find. Kip has a excellent post with a very detailed description of the new Official ROM and how to remove the bloatware a couple posts below. There are a few reported bugs, such as the phone getting quite hot, and some are stating that the battery life is horrible, neither of which I have experienced. All in all this update seems like a great upgrade, however I will have to admit it, I am going to switch back to a cooked ROM in the next day or so. I just like the other ROMs better. I do not recommend that you try to flash your Tilt with a cooked (non-official) ROM unless you know what you are doing.
As for the installation walk through that I stated I would do, I had started to write one, and discovered a excellent and detailed one on HTC’s site that did the job much better than I could, so here is the link, Tilt ROM upgrade guide I only would add one bit to the instructions, and that is to remove your SIM card, any disruption to the update process can be disastrous, and I like to lower the chances as best as I can. I believe in Murphy and his Law because Murphy believes in me.
Happy Flashing!!
