Waiting On SkyFire Beta? Here Is a Cheat To Get In While It Lasts!

pc_capture4 Have you been waiting to get into Skyfire Beta program? Well if you have, here is a workaround while it lasts to try to get in. This comes from WMExperts Forums via ppcgeeks.com:

Well, thanks to this little tip, you can bump your application up and get the download link now:

  • If you have never registered, just go here and enter in CNET100 in the code section
  • If you have previously registered, but did not get enrolled, go back and re-enter your info exactly (same number, same email, same name) and now enter the code: CNET100

You should see a screen that says that they’ve found your registration and you’ll get an SMS link to download the Skyfire browser.

Make sure you uncheck “This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet” as that seems to be a problem often encountered connecting to Skyfire. The link was left open from a special Skyfire ran with CNET (CLICK HERE). CNET had the the first 100 readers immediate access to Skyfire and it looks like that the code has not expired yet. So hurry up while you can!

Thanks to WMExperts for the heads up!

Oops, and I almost forgot to thank tipster Josh for bringing this to my attention so fast!

FIRST AND FOREMOST I JUST WANNA SAY HOW AWESOME THIS SITE IS YOU GUYS ARE UNBELIEVABLE AND ALWAYS HAVE NEW INFO EVERY MINUTE. FINALLY GOT THE SKYFIRE BUT I ALREADY HAVE OPERA 9.5 BETA RUNNING ON MY TILT, I THINK I WILL KEEP BOTH FOR NOW = ) THANKS AGAIN, TILTSITE.COM ROCKS!!!

    Scott,

Very true, I have posted similar concern about security earlier here, but no one really seems to give it a good thought... and Skyfire people don't talk about it at all.

Another issue is, if their servers are down, you can't browse.

I would prefer Opera over this one, Though I really like what it can do.

I got the skyfire beta a while ago, when they first released it. Being a programmer myself, I immediately saw what they were doing, and personally I don't like it. They are running servers on their network (similar to Citrix), and rendering your web pages on their servers. Then the image of the page is being transferred down to your phone. Its a nice idea, but i'm leary about security with it, since data you enter goes from your phone to their servers, then out to internet web sites. I'm just not too trusting of intermediary servers when it comes to security.

I was dead serious about the beer. Lots of great bars in Miami without going anywhere near South Beach (which actually is a lousy place for bars. For a straight man anyway.)
  • Just got a message saying that my number has previously been registered. But I never was enrolled in the beta.
  • thanks a TON tiltsite!

    it worked great!
  • SEE! Everyone was complaining and doubting me on how awesome Skyfire is! The thing that blows me away is how well it works in an EDGE evironment!

I have made some good ebd roads into Skyfire so I will be keeping everyone up to date on the official release.

@Eric: I travel a lot with my job and that is a place I will be next year 1Q. And don't think I won't take you up on a beer! :)
  • Eric
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

It feels like I've been waiting to test this browser since the Johnson administration. (Andrew, not Lyndon)

If you're ever in Miami, i owe you a beer.

I can't believe how lightning fast this browser is. A graphic intensive site like imdb loaded in 3 seconds. Amazing!

    Thank you, tiltsite.
