What’s Wrong With Apple’s iPhone Application Store?

Ok, so I loaded up the Gen 1 iPhone with 2.0 software when it was released. I proceeded to drop $30-$40 on some applications. This all went well and the application store was looking like a superstar until Friday. I posted about how to customize your home screen on July 30th and in the photo below, you can see how my screen was configured, including what applications I had purchased.

Well, Friday night on the way out of town, I noticed that I am missing a ton of icons. I noted this from the car after I noticed it on my personal blog. I was out of town and primarily using the E-Ten M810 so no big deal. I decided to fix it when I got home today. Well, this didn’t go quite as planned…
When I arrived home, I logged into iTunes and checked out the “Applications Tab”. The only apps it showed that I had in my library was “To Do” and another freebie. Whoa, I purchased several programs, why don’t they show? Well, I still don’t know. I went to view my purchase history and it shows all the apps I bought, but there is no link to redownload. I went to one of the applications in iTunes and only had the option to “Buy” again.
The only thing that was done with the phone was a charge/sync Friday afternoon after work, just before we left to go out of town. When I put the iPhone into my cradle, it looked like the “before” picture above and when I pulled it out to let my son play Monkey Ball in the car, it looked like the “After” screenshot. No Monkeyball, no Twitterific, none of those.
What’s up here Apple? Anyone else have a similar story? How do I fix this?
