i was just wondering if the htc touch 3g holds a microsd that is bigger than a 1 gb (for example a 8/16 gb card)

I doubt that anybody here can make a definitive statement until it's out, but I'd be shocked if if didn't support SDHC, allowing up to 32 GB. My Motorola Q9m running WM 6 works fine with an 8 GB MicroSD card, so I can't imagine any newer device not supporting it.

    The successor to a category-defining original…

I thought the Touch Diamond was the successor to the Touch. I gues HTC has so many phones now that figuring out what begets what is getting tough.... (LOL I typed "touch" instead of "tough" there at first.)

This does look more like the Touch, though.
