SP1 If you are looking for a super, finger-friendly photo organizer, and I really mean organizer, you will want to consider SplashPhoto. It works on a wide array of platforms including Palm, Windows Mobile, Symbian, and Blackberry, but not iPhone.

It supports the most popular photo formats: JPG, TIFF, GIF, and BMP. The tree view allows you to order your photos into categories and subcategories. The properties system allows for sophisticated tagging and retrieval with searches.

With SplashPhoto, you can view photos individually and pan and zoom them. Or you can organize them into slideshow folders complete with transitions and musical accompaniment if supported by the device. It will read images directly from an expansion card from another camera too.

The program comes with a desktop version that allows you to organize, import, and edit photos, which is clearly a nice feature. However, I was disappointed that the editing tools were not more robust, and doubly disappointed that you cannot edit photos on a handheld with SplashPhoto.

sp2 Perhaps the crowning glory of SplashPhoto is its ability to download and upload images directly to the most popular online photo facilities: Facebook, Picassa, and Flickr for storage and sharing. This is a dynamite feature that turns SplashPhoto into a cannon ball.

Try it for free or purchase it for $29.95. You can download an executable file or get it over the air for direct installation to your device, which is a nice convenience that I wish more developers would accommodate. Check it out at www.splashdata.com, and while you’re there, take a look at its many other offerings. Note that there is a bundle deal offered that will save you some money.
