Either way, Microsoft is pushing Touch interfaces heavily, see the 'surface' -very cool indeed. Lot's of work seems to be going on in this space, so I expect the next windows version to be fully touchable rather than merely pointable with the stylus. I expect the mouse will be dead then too. I can only blame the higher price. I heard plenty of complaints when my daughter's school mandated Tablets for students. I kept telling the grumbling parents how cool they are, but it was a hard sell. I won't buy another portable computer that doesn't have some sort of touch interface. I find it the most intuitive way to interact with a computer. I will take Touch interaction over Voice (which I keep hearing is the next big thing) any day!
