TouchFLO 2D – TouchFLO for everyone else…

It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.

Those XDA people are ripping programs apart and putting them back together again. This time, they have dismantled HTC’s TouchFlo3D and made it usable by other devices and they are calling it an uber original TouchFLO 2D. Coolsmartphone has done a video demo for everyone to enjoy…

So, I’ve just had an email from Stephen Murray about something called TouchFLO 2D. It’s a CAB file which you can install and get the same experience as the excellent HTC TouchFLO 3D system seen in the excellent HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro.

I cannot uninstall manually, need to back up and reboot. Which cause me a lot of troubles.

well maybe that icon isn't a button at all. maybe it's just thered to tell you how many messages you have and thats it. I don't know, but mine seems to be working perfectly and the battery lasts a lot longer than it did using winmo 6.1
  • Ben Hanchett
I have one question: When you guys go to messages. There is a small icon on the right that tell you how many new messages you have. I push the icon but nothing happens. When I push the one with the pencil, it allows me to write a new message. Anyone has the new message thing work on theirs?
  • Sean
ok well I have used this on my tilt for the past 5 days and I must say that I love it. Also I'm not sure what's up but my battery is lasting longer now. I used to have to charge it every day but now its every other day. I wonder if anyone else has noticed a difference in battery life with touchflo 2d
  • herg62123
    no on 8125
  • chris huck
will this work on a 8125 with windows 5
  • herg62123
By the way TF2D ,or as i call it 2D Manila ,is the new interface for touch viva and touch 3d.

it is completely different than TF3d or 3d Manila which comes off of diamond, raphael, touch hd models

I am glad everyone enjoys our hard work and efferts to get this 2dmanila working.

this makes me happy to see others happy.

Everything works fine for me. But i'm using hyperdragon's newest ROM which has TouchFLO2D included. Even before that ROM, I installed the cabs and had no problems whatsoever. Not sure why you guys are having problems with it.

Does anyong know how to lock the phone when using this interface? I have asked on 4 sites. You guys that uninstalled because things weren't work: Have you tried the 8th updated version? I have an everything is working for except the browser( You need to install Opera and I'm not doing that.)
  • John
I disabled the today plugin, then rebooted, then tried to uninstall as soon as possible, but it failed. :(
(This was the suggested uninstall route)

1 Hard reset later, I am back up and running.
  • Steve
yeah, disabling the today plugin, then uninstallig worked for me. Great idea, but way too many things don't work (yes I know it's a beta) so I'm going back to SPB MS2.1.2 for now...
  • Dr
I disabled TouchFlo 2D and did a soft reset and then did an uninstall. It seems ok.... Am I missing something?

(Yah, I'm going to wait a bit....)
  • type1fan
Whatever you do, MAKE SURE YOU MAKE A BACK UP before you install this cab. There's no way to un-install it without doing a hard boot. I loved the interface but there were too many things that didn't function correctly and the battery, which dies far too fast normally, was going down even faster. Highly recommended if the tilt isn't your primary phone or you are near an outlet all day.

I'm not using or will use AT & T's ROM. I've always flashed cooked ROMs and I find them to be the best. Yea I also am using Hyperdragon's ROM. Isn't it a great ROM? Love his work.
  • Tom K
I just flashed the Hyperdragon III Pro ROM that has this cooked in. I have to say is is AWESOME. Best ROM I have ever flashed.
  • badersk
I have not tried it on a stock rom but I have tried it on a stripped version of the att one and it works fine. I am now trying a rom with it pre-loaded as wll.
  • Ben Hanchett
Anyone running this with the stock ATT 6.1 ROM yet?
  • tony
I love this thing. No need for SPB Mobile Shell anymore. There is a single cab on XDA that has everything in it. e.g. Opal Volume Control, Youtube app. I installed that cab and it worked great. I have since flashed a different ROM that includes TouchFLO2D. Like Eric stated, it doesn't have Opera tho because there's always a newer build of Opera that seems to surface ever so often.

Also there's already some customization options. You can change the background, clock, but not the tabs or tab orders as of yet.

Keep in mind that this is still a BETA so of course there will be bugs. If this is the BETA version, just imagine what the final version will be like. Hopefully the final version incorporates the flash clock. Head over to XDA and try it out. You'll love it.

    LONG LIVE THE TILT!!!
  • Eric
The best way to get it started is to pull it off freewarepocketpc.net. THEN go over to xda and grab the task manager and volume control add-ons. Word of warning, it's a battery killer (and there's no meter). Also, if you're using Opera Browser, you'll need the version that installs on device memory for Browser to work properly. To be more clear ONLY Opera Browser works with this prog.

Other than that, I LOVE THIS!
  • Chad
Looks great. Would love to install this on my phone. Can someone please tell me what files need to be installed.
  • Viv
How do I install this on my Tilt with AT&T's latest rom? It gives me an error saying that my system doesn't have the right permissions.
  • John
Just installed on my tilt. NICE!

Great alternative to SPB Mobile shell. Will try to use it for a week and see the longevity of it.
