I am on the record already as agreeing with Steve concerning Netbooks...

Netbooks are well on their way to becoming a mainstream device type, like Notebooks. Several different models, such as the Asus Eees, the Acer Aspire 1 and the MSi Wind are amongst the top selling products each company produces.

UMPCs/MIDs are on their way to becoming a curious niche product, like Tablet PCs. They have a small, devoted following and no market presense to speak of.

Question, will Tablet PC push out Notebooks or in the other way around? I won't buy a Netbook because the single fact that they do not have a touch screen. And there are other people that wont buy a UMPC because they do have a touch screen. Got my point. Different needs, different markets.

I hardly ever use my UMPC anymore. The Eee 901 XP is much easier to use and lighter to carry than the Samsung Q1 with the USB keyboard and case included. The only thing the Eee series of netbooks is lacking is a model which can accept a SIM card or other on-board built-in internet access abilities. I'm not talking about Bluetooth or WiFi, the Eee 901 has both, I mean turn open your browser and go kind of action. UMPCs have the lead in that field.
