I have two upgrades My own and my wifes.

She uses just a regular razor and even that is to much for her.
I'm using the Tilt and using the PDAconnect manilla ROM and loving it the best rom since I got the Tilt makes using the tilt and all its got much esier.

I'm 90% sure I will upgrade just my account to the Fuze and wait for the HTC Quartz / T8290 or similar to then upgrade my wifes phone (for my use of course) .
Maybe by Feb or March ???

Miller

I hear you. If a VGA screen is all that important, go for it. To me, it is all about applications. They make or break the phone. And I have lots of applications that provide most of the usability for the Tilt. I love Kinoma Play and Newsbreak 2.0 and for these two applications, screen resolution is not really the issue.

I would upgrade the phone for a bigger screen with higher resolution, not for a 2.8 screen. I would also upgrade for WinMo 7 (likely) after a few months.

IMHO, $300 is just too much to pay for VGA screen in a phone.

Yes, the rumors still continue to swirl. A guy who seems to be in the know over on the AT&T forums says now that the release has been pushed back by two weeks to Nov. 17. Others are still claiming Nov. 4. The good thing is that everyone I've read about who has a test unit says that it's really good, apparently fixing a lot of the problems earlier users of the Touch Pro in Europe had encountered. Hopefully we won't have the quality problems a lot of early Sprint adopters seem to be having with their version of the Touch Pro. Sounds like it's worth waiting for...

@ADR: Hey, no problem; if you're happy with your Tilt, by all means keep it. I haven't actually used one of these 2.8" VGA screens, but people who have sound very satisfied, and for me having the VGA resolution is enough reason to upgrade. I switched to my current QVGA 8525 from a VGA device (Dell Axim X50v) just because the convenience of a converged phone/PDA outweighed the screen downgrade (although not by much; I came awfully close to returning it when I actually saw what I was giving up). I can't wait to get back to smooth fonts, detailed icons, and being able to see enough of XL spreadsheets, web pages, and PDF documents.

If the Xperia X1 or the Touch HD were going to be available with an AT&T subsidy, I'd definitely wait for them, because 800 pixels would be even better than 640. However, the Fuze is all that's likely to be available in the near- to mid-term future, so I'll be happy with that.

I was just told it's new release date is 11 Nov... subject to change... it was the same way with the Tilt's launch too, I.E. slipping dates/mis-information.

I hear the arguments for upgrading and I am not convinced. Looks are not that important, functionality is. I have gotten the Tilt to do very much what I want a smartphone to do at this time, and the absence of a VGA screen for the screen size (2.8'') is not critical. Nor is a faster processor for that matter. I use the keyboard a lot, so I do want a good keyboard in a device with a bigger screen. Accelerometers are gimmicks, if you to play games, a smallish phone is not the way to go. If there was smartphone out there offering a 3.2 to 3.5'' screen plus a keyboard, I would seriously consider it but at this time, the Fuze represents a very incremental advance. In addition, it runs the HTC shell that slows down the phone. I am content in waiting for some significant gains in functionality before paying AT&T another $300!! For serial upgraders, the Fuze may be a must, but this is not really achieved for usability; at this stage, this is a hobby.

Nope, not out yet. There's a very large chorus of folks saying that the release date will be Nov. 4, albeit with a few dissenters predicting later in November. A few stores seem actually to have promised units to customers for Nov. 4. Only a week now (until the election and the likely Fuze release!).

Launch date for htc fuze was not October 23rd. It is October 26th, and it is still not out? I think the Nov release date is more accurate...dissapointing

I get a kick every time I see the typo "October 23nd" faithfully reproduced from that memo! (Every site I've seen that reported on it did it.) (Of course, it ought to be "October 23st"! :-)

the borders around the tilt is almost reason enough for me to switch.
than theres
VGA
smaller phone
the accelerometer
that zoom wheel thing
it looks a hell of a lot better than the tilt(maybe not the "tytn II but definately the tilt)
the keyboards an extra plus
the power button is always better on the top
TF3D
processor and ram
its almost like saying why go from xbox to xbox 360
or a tube tv to a 1080p equiped tv
just seems logical to upgrade
theres just gonna be some things for this phone that r not gonna work on the tilt

I agree
But it does have a VGA screen compared to the Tilts QVGA
but the screen is the same small size
I really don't use my Tilts Keyboard so

I really want the HTC Touch HD with its bigger screen
but I here it won't be available here in the USA.

Maybe they will make a version for the USA next year ?

I would not think that the Fuze would be a reason for anybody to "upgrade" from the Tilt. This phone has still very much the same screen size and runs the proprietary HTC software ontop of Windows 6.1 which impacts performance.

My Tilt works just fine and really miss nothing at this stage that the Fuze would provide. I think that the only reason for upgrading would be a larger screen (3.2'' at least) and/or Win 7.0.

If anybody has discovered an essential reason from moving from the Tilt to the Fuze, I would love to know.
